I stopped taking Suboxone (8mg/day) about 6 months ago. I hadn't touched any opiates since then until last week when I got my hands on a bottle of Dilaudid and a few norco's. My tolerance to hydrocodone was around 50mgs to get high. I had also dabbled with hydromorphone a few times before getting on subs and 15mgs of dilaudid up the nose was one of my best highs ever(lots of euphoria and sedation).

I popped 50mgs of hydrocodone on saturday and felt sedated, but there wasn't any euphoria present. The same thing happened w/ the dilaudid. I snorted 16mgs on friday and just fell asleep about 2 hours later. The next day, I iv'd 4-6mg of hydromorphone and felt a rush, which lasted about 30 seconds, and then I started to nod but felt ZERO euphoria. Did being on suboxone ruin opiates for me permanently ?

this has actually happened to me as well... i was an opiate user since 23 and on methadone the last 12 years... i quit 3 months ago. i have no desire to get high with opiates anymore but i did end up having some medical issues (gallbladder attack) for which they give me a large dose of diluadid (13 mg). it did literally nothing but take the edge off the pain... i had surgery and same thing with the 10mg norcos they prescribed... i didnt even bother to keep taking them...

i think its possible that all the years of opiate use (particularly a strong agonist like methadone or suboxone) might have some effect on downregulating the recptors so that the weaker stuff simply wont do that much...
