And you too DXM Junkies...
Found This Article a few times over from different sites.. I'm not really sure about this guy's credentials, but most of what he says seems to make sense (and I recall BT saying something about 'tiny little holes in your brain' once before, can't remember if he was taking the piss).
So this article is more of a commentary than hardcore scientific fact.. I got a bit doubtful of it's objectiveness and plain factuality when i read this ...
"Dissociative anaesthetics (ketamine and tiletamine) are used in veterinary practice, since animals don't often complain about out-of-body experiences" :)
But then I decided maybe the guy just doesn't have a good grasp of the english language...
ANYWAY, seeing as though this article is a bit sparse;
What are people opinions on Olney's Lesions? Do they exist in humans? C'mon bulb whores, speak up from your own experience, or post another article!

I was under the impression that 'olney's legions' only affected the heavy HEAVY users of dissociatives, i havent read the whole article yet but does it imply something more than that ?

this goes for 'pcp' as well... although i don't think many people around here are engaging in pcp use ;)
bulb whores won't get olney's lesions very easily... bulbs make for small, inconsistent doses of nitrous... if you're on a mask with nitrous & no air, that's different. but bulbs will put holes in your pocket before your brain. (i think that line is from that article... if not, it's from a different one on olney and his lesions.)

Olney's Legions are yet to be confirmed as an actual danger for disassociative users. While there is some evidence for the link there has been much debate over the topic and nothing has yet been concluded.
While some chronic ketamine users have been found to suffer from Olney's Legions there is much evidence against any actual link. Many medical authorities have debated over the validity of the claims. So for the time being it would be wise to er on the side of caution, it is not the worry this article is trying to make it.

In one of the most comprehensive books that I've read on Ketamine, being 'K: Dreams and Realalities' by Karl Jansen, not once did he mention conclusive evidence on Olney's Lesions.
He stated that in a clinical trial carried out by Parke Davis, the makers of Ketlar, they gave humans subjects 7 times the normal dosage to put you under and found no negetive side effects.
Ketlar is still given to children for operations. If there was any doubt about the lesions then why is the above practice not stopped?

I'm not 100% sure but I vaguely rmemeber reading that children dont get Olney's as easily (or at all) compared to adults..

Im sure all the research (well the little that has been done into olneys) has been done for PCP and DXM.. They never found out anything definate, and then simply said "this may apply to K and Bulbs" simply because they are another form of disasociative. sp?
anyway..
K is good,
bulbs are evil.
That is all.
Chem.
