"Unique conditions feels free to post in thread"

I've developed HS (Hydronosis supritiva) a chronic skin disorder that creates boils & abcesses anywhere on the body.

I get them in my armpits & breast mostly.

I also struggle with skin picking, self harm, body focused behaviors since I was 11.

I've got Staph infections. Belly button infections. Ear infection. All sorts of infections on my skin.

I shower every single day, I'm very clean.

Even when I'm off meth for months, I have skin problems.

I'm 22.

I'd like to be part or research, because HS is so underresearched. If there's anything of the sort count me in!

Washing your skin is likely not the core issue. Staph is a natural bacteria commonly found on all human skin.

The situation here may be involved with the damage to your skin, or epidermal layer, that its occurring due to the damage you are causing it due to the behavior that ruptures one of its primary functions. One of its primary functions is a barrier between your inner system and pathogens from the outer world. Or skin is the largest organ in the body. Its has so many functions and a very important one is being the wall between the vulnerable inner systems and an often dangerous outer world. iI we repeatedly rupture the skin barrier we open doors for pathogens to enter.

So @Noodlebitxh if you want to share how have you been attacking your situation. If you want to share who have you seen about this (what type of MD) and what treatment have you engaged in<3<3<3

I would just love to see how much trauma and addiction have impacted my brain or body. My trauma started at 5 my father made child pornography after that my mother hated me and gave me up when I was 12 out of four girls. This led to me being sex trafficked. At 14 I was a full-time iv addict living in the tenderloins of San Francisco ultimately there's so much more to my story now 35 raising a six-year-old after losing my oldest daughter 17 just last year. I'm in college and have held down a job for 5 years however I still Bobbi trap my doors and windows at night and have a very big dog. I have no close relationships though id likes to. I live my life in flight mode and have for so long that I can only imagine what my heart looks like or my brain I wish I didn't live life in survival mode. I know the world is a beautiful place and I don't view everybody as a threat however I don't function the way I wish I could or I know that other people can I know experiencing Trauma from a young age and continually facing trauma whether by self or someone else has affected my brain and it sucks can't fix something that I don't know how broken it is and I want a chance to live in the beautiful world that surrounds me and not always be consumed by fear that something tragic is going to happen right around the corner are being able to remember a stupid math problem from school I don't know I'm just putting this out there. Nothing else has worked meds sobriety drugs nothing maybe if I knew how altered things were id have a chance to repair even a little.

I have been and still currently taking 50-75mgs consistently of Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) for help in a sleep aid for almost 3 years -- I would be willing to enter study.
Dude you should really stop doing that. It's known to cause dementia with long term use like you're doing and also that's a pretty high dose to be taking everyday! Pleaseee for the sake of your cognition, STOP taking benadryl!

Hi Noodle,
I'm wondering if you'll ever see this since it's an old thread and you haven't been around for a while. I have also been diagnosed with HS. It appears in the same places on me, only I also get the ingrown hairs on my legs, mainly inner thighs but also calves. I have also been a picker most of my life. I remember when I was a kid I used to sit in front of the mirror and pick at the face for hours. I've also gotten staph infections, once on my scalp which was awful. I think the worst one was when I was recently in the hospital psych ward, we weren't allowed to have anything like a razor, deodorant, they gave us baby wash and infant lotion. I didn't shave for 2 weeks and when I did i got an awful infection. Mainly on my legs and armpits. I also use meth and can go long periods of poptime without picking. Sometimes I intentionally wear long sleeves or pants just so I can't. I was diagnosed with skin excoriation several years ago. It's more like a compulsion for me. Once I start, I have a very hard time stopping. Even when I'm not on any drugs.
I was diagnosed by a dermatologist. I had squamous cell carcinoma on my chest. I guess with HS there is a higher risk of getting skin cancer. I try not to pick, especially when it's bad. It's painful. The derm gave me a script for antibiotic lotion. It's helped. I know there are other treatments up to and including surgery. There's steroid injections, hormone therapy, even biologicals, which are used with autoimmune diseases. I hope you've gotten treatment and things have improved!
