"SPREAD THE WORD!
THE GIG IS ON, BUT WE WILL BE @ CROBAR INSTEAD.
SPIRIT WILL BE OPEN FOR BUSINESS BUT CANNOT ACCOMODATE OUR NEEDS AT THIS TIME AND WE HOPE TO BE BACK THERE AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE TO ALWAYS PROVIDE NYC WITH SOMETHING A LIL' DIFFERENT.

THANK YOU SPIRIT AND
THANK YOU CROBAR."

Yeah, I went to goto Spirit last Friday night and it was shut down. I asked the bouncers at Crobar, and they said because "Spirit threw too many bad parties." Anyone know what they meant by that or why it was closed? BTW, Crobar was absolutely sick last Friday with Danny Howells. Good people there that night.

Spirit was one of the 7 clubs that got shut down by cops because undercovers went in and were able to buy drugs and shit. There's an article in Second Opinion about it.

Spirit will be back open, they probably just don't want to risk having such a big party back there so soon already.

Which sucks because now that it's moved I don't plan on going, it's going to be WAY to packed :(

But i thought you loved Crobar? Well, if its gonna be too packed, hmmm. Maybe yer right.

Oh believe me, I do love Crobar, it's my favorite club. But in my opinion I think Spirit would be better because they would have the upstairs area too. I'm not sure if Crobar will be opening the entire club for this, the upstairs is usually just VIP and bottle service. Also at Spirit you can sit down when you're tired, if you want to sit at Crobar and you can't get upstairs, then you gotta try and find a space in the Reed room to squeeze into.

I've never seen DT @ Crobar, only at Spirit. My friend has though and he tells me it's insanely crowded when he spins at Crobar.

Well there's a small chance I might end up there after seeing Green Velvet and Layo and Bushwacka! @ Pacha, we'll see :)

I dunno who Green Velvet and Layo and Bushwacka is, but since you tuned me onto Sander Kleinenberg, i'll take yer advice. I'm headed out Saturday to the clubs. Whats gonna be good, because for me personally, I love Spirit. Plenty of room to walk around, decent sound system, and yes, you are right about the upstairs being nice to walk around there. Crobar is too crowded in general, (except for last Friday, was sick), but I still haven't seen the inside of Pacha since the SF dayz. Which ones r u hitting after Pacha? BTW, I haven't attempted to get into Pacha since I saw your post about them turning you guys away a few months back. Is it still hard to get into, dress code, etc...?

No I never got turned away, some friends of mine did. It was for an Erik Morillo night and I think they were just being picky since it was so crowded. I've been there twice so far and haven't had any probs at all, they didn't seem picky about the dress code either. It's not any different than getting into Crobar or Spirit, I think it was just a bad night that night.

Me and my friend are giving in, we're gonna hit up Crobar after Pacha tomorrow. Pacha is free on the guestlist. I'll post a thread with the info on it this has already gotten way off topic :)

your plan is pretty tempting... Layo & Bush are great and Ive never seen them live. Green Velvet is always dope to watch live...

But i agree on Crobar and i think thats the main thing keeping me away tonight... It gets WAY to packed on a big-name night, vip access or not... I've been absolutely DYING to see DT again - but i don't think I'd like to endure the crowds at Crobar for it... even if he's spinning with the GOD known as Picotto!

well i didnt make it in Pacha in time so I jsut went straight to this.

Picotto was good, but the club was waaaaay to packed (as expected) we managed to find a little spot in a corner. DT was who I was really there for, he came on around 5am I think and by then there was room to move, he rocked it. We left around 11am, didn't want to b/c he was soooo good, but the legs weren't working anymore. Definatly glad I decided to go....just wouldn't have went so early if it was my choice :)

We actually hit both of these events, but in reverse order. Started at Crobar really early. They didn't open up the main room until midnight, and I dunno who the DJ was onstage at that time, but he wasn't very good (couldn't find a groove ya know). Then about 2 AM, we couldn't take how packed the place was, and the vibe, plus DT wasn't going on til 5 anyway. So we took a chance and went over to Pacha. Green Velvet was incredible!!! And that sound system there blows every other club away. I absolutely love when the DJ's get really into it, and they were. Only thing that sucked was that around 5:00AM they turned the house lights on and said they were closing. But we kept begging him to play one more track, and he did. It was awesome there, i'll def. go back to Pacha again. BTW, I saw one those cards on the bar at Crobar saying that Sander Kleinenberg is coming there this weekend. Anyone going?
