Opioids Norspan 20mg 7 day transdermal patch (20mg buprenorphine)

I am planning on eating one of these, I have a small opiate tolerance, I have used buprenorphine tablets in the past, I also know what it's effects are and what dose to take. I however do not know what the effects of the patch are in contrast to the tablets.

If I was to simply dissolve half the patch in lemon juice and put under my tongue would it be equivalent to 10mg of buprenorphine tablets under my tongue? Is there a safe way to extract the buprenorphine for oral use?

Are there any risks with using these patches over say normal tablets? Anyone know if I was to say prick my skin before hand and use the patch if this would be safe or cause a greater effect?

Any harm reduction/dose/extraction information would be greatly helpful.

Although it may theoretically work better to use the tip you mentioned, realistically it would probably be negligible. Also just for the sake of harm reduction I would say don't try piercing your skin to increase BA. It should fee the same as a sub in tablet form as long as it breaks down as quick when administered. The main goal would be if the peak plasma levels were the same after dosing.

This...You say you have a little tolerance and have done bupe before, did you really do 10mg before?! When I had a little opiate tolerance (40mg OC had me in a good place) I took 2mg of bupe and it was a good dose for me at that time. Lasted over a day so I wouldn't have wanted anymore than what 2mg felt like!
 
Yeah wasn't going to eat 10mg (if pure) at once haha, was just using it as an example.

I put a 5mg strip in water and vodka for about 15 minutes, cut it up with scissors and mashed it up a lot then sat the water in my mouth for 15, I then waited about 45 mins (empty stomach) and chewed the rest of it for a while.

Bit of a buzz, considering my mild tolerance it felt about right, they were free so no real loss.

Going to try it with a 10mg next time, I'm assuming unless I actually eat the strips (swallow them) I'm probably still losing at least half of it, even then the BA of oral buprenorphine sucks and it would be released slowly so wouldn't do much if I swallowed it, all the plastic and crap couldn't be that good for my insides anyway.
 
with tolerance you can take in bupe has only around a 10%BA after going through first-pass metabolism. transdermal and sublingual use are the more commonly used and efficient when it comes to the medication side of it.

just a reminder bupe is a potent opioid. i've witnessed and looked after a friend who ate no more than an 1/8th of a 20mg patch get extremely sick. he nods from 10mg oxy.
 
I was actually on bupe maintenance for poppy seed addiction for a year, 4, 6, 8, 16 (every second day), 8 (every second day), 4 daily, 2, 1.2, 0.8, 0.4, 0.2mg, then 0.2 2-3x a week until jumping off with no withdrawal.

This was about a year ago, I have since relapsed mildly and use maybe once a week, probably equivalent to 2mg tolerance. Will be doing my best to get back off it, I have the will power to taper without the sub this time, just got these for free so couldn't help myself.

hmm half the 20mg patch soaked over night cut into strips then chewed did sweet fuck all. Even when I was on 8mg every second day it did more than this.

Any tips to get a better extraction, should I try mortar and pestleing the patch with alcohol or something?
