ive been trying to figure this out but what exactly is a Nod? Is it when u just fall asleep while on alot of Pk's. Why is this considered pleasurable? are you not wasting you high by being asleep?

To me a nod isn't considered being 'asleep'. When I'm nodding I'm always thinking deeply about random stuff, but I can still hear my surroundings.
I do consider it pleasurable because to me when I catch a nod I feel I am at the peak of my high for the moment, and when you feel that way it is just pure bliss.

To me it was (I'm off the opiates at the present) just complete bliss. It was the ability to jump directly into REM sleep (CEVs) for a few moments at a time, with random thoughts and connections being made while otherwise perfectly at ease and comfort with the world. Then wake up and be right back in it for a few moments/minutes before slipping right back.
Only downside was that I didn't like the lack of control over when the nods would hit or the frequency... otherwise, perfection.
I'm curious as to the medical reasoning behind nodding...

My guess is that since it is a CNS depressant, and given the amount taken to achieve a 'nod', you are basically on that fine line between conscious and unconscious.
Its like the many times I'm sure its happened to you or others in school when you're sitting there pretending to listen...start feeling pretty out of it, then WHAM, you wake up as your head falls forward. You quickly snap out of it, not quite sure what just happened and you look around to see if anyone saw you do it.
They act like they didn't, but they did. And they will continue to enjoy watching you repeat the process over and over until class is over.

^ Ha, that made me laugh. I remember doing that in my OH+S class. We had a trannie teacher (pre-op) who spoke with a drone that could tranquillise a giraffe.
On topic, I've never got to the revered nod. I always find myself squirming around a little because that warm feeling in my stomach is just so damn good. Then again I only take codeine so what do you expect...
Do nodders find they actually go to sleep often? Or can you keep yourself awake? Is the effort to stay awake annoying?

If you're in a nod state you typically don't care about much at all.
It can be annoying in retrospect because it takes like an hour to type 2 sentences because you keep nodding off on the keyboard...but at the time its kinda amusing.
If you know you need to be alert over the course of the next few hours most people won't do enough to make them nod, just be content and await the nod session later.
Then again this is difficult to do with IV heroin, since you aren't positive about its potency.

to me a nod is the point where you have trouble keeping your eyes open. I don't nod frequently, but I do if I've taken my meds on an empty stomach or potentiated them with some weed.

Nods for the nuggs goes as follows...
opiates taken
then whatever im doin i just head down n im out for a few secs
then i come back continuing doin what i was doin!
like typing is really hard when nodding
due to my hands smashing the keys down
n then i come right back like 30-60 sec later
ohh n sometimes nods are super bad and its like im out for 10 min or more!

Because it only seems to happen on a high dose of opiates, and to most people high dosage of opiates = bliss.
Well, you're not really asleep if it's happening. You just keep closing your eyes and seeing like dream fragments and then awaking and feeling really good. Ive heard other people call it "dipping out" because you keep slipping away to sleep for just a short time.
Anytime I have experienced the nods have been a very euphoric time.

this is random, but i feel like i have weird nods. ill be on the computer for a while and listen to music and go in and out of it every couple of minutes, but eventually i get to a point where i can't even sit up anymore and i have to lay down. once i lay down, i dont go to sleep per se because i can still hear everything around me, but i just go into a super hard nod for like an hour or more, almost like i am napping, but i am definitely not asleep.
but yea, laying down and just nodding hard like that is almost orgasmic to me lol.

I don't think you know when you "completely nod out". Falling asleep for 2 seconds feels the same as nodding out for 2 hours.

Nodding is when you fall asleep (or a similar state) for a minute or so, and then you regain consciousness, and then after a few minutes nod again, and so on and so forth.

it sounds tight....its just when i eat PK's i like the euphoric talkativeness that i get it would seem to me that falling asleep wouldn't be that much fun.... guess i just gotta try it.

only time i have ever nodded was because i had taken a benzo just prior to the opiate. but it was fucking awesome; you start to loose track of whether you are dreaming or in reality, because you switch in and out so fluidly and often.

The beautiful thing about OC was that you could nod off it if you sat/laid down, but if you were up you could pretty quickly get yourself pulled together. It was a perfect combo... you want to rest, here ya go... nod off pleasantly for a while. Oh, you want to be productive... no problemo!!
I've never touched H (no plans to. Getting off OC's has been enough of a bitch, I can't imagine how bad H w/d's would be).
