No idea how to get off a long-term Oxy rx dose. Scared.

AA or NA would be a great place to star( pro tip-just keep going back to meetings no matter what and give it a lot of time and never quit and just trust and learn)...you will gain knowledge and get love and support...as far as the meds go its always best to taper down as low as you can go...sounds like you have some good stuff with bupe and benzos for the early part of your separation from oxy

Daily reduction or switch to low dose Methadone 10mg and reduce weekly until 1mg daily

Clonidine 0.1mg
Gabapentin 300mg or Pregabalin 150mg
Diazepam (Valium) 2mg
Methadone 5mg - 1mg

Just for a few weeks max .....1 week even as Oxycodone is short acting and has relatively quick elimination from body

YMMV but regarding learning the first visits and def last times to a NA meeting. A lot of incorrect info was spread dangerous info, like not tapering a benzo, or abrupt cessation when Alcohol was the drug. This was encouraged and Dr's advise or help discouraged, and portaited as drugdealers themselve.

They seem to be stuck somewhere between the 19-th/ 20-th century concerning there believes about addiction. A uncureable disease, luckily not contagious. A weakness that can only be overcome by giving in to a higher force that will relieve you of temptation. So even the existance of willpower, personal motivation or freedom of choice are taken. You are left thinking you could not save you but your most high one did it for you. Sounds motivating?

Love and hugs, that's the one thing i did got. But support if your so desperate you call all the ones you called, an group thing, only I was never called. Then the one leading this group, and at last the emergency support nr. Nada, nilrim never a reply, no body bothered. So NA goodby.

Depending on if your have any trust in the one prescribing, suggest a slow taper. Or else save up make a schedule and DIY. Maybe swith to Kratom at some point?

I am a long term oxy patient who has tried coming off with tiny fent strips. Think tip of a fingernail wide.

Honestly I am so scared. I have access to bupe oral patches and benzos. Just don't know what to do. I am new to all this even though I have been on oxy for 8 years.

Where do I start?
When you say "oxy patient", I take it that you are prescribed your oxy? If it's above board, can't you lean on your prescribing doctors to help you quit? Better than figuring it out completely on your own.
And what is your desired goal? No pain meds, less pain meds, different ones? Or are they just cutting off your oxy? I'm just thinking that if you have an underlying chronic pain problem, then you have to continue to manage that, which has to be part of your approach.
In any case, I'd be cautious about substituting one habit for another, unless it's necessary, whatever that substitute drug might be.
Stick with the this site, there are a lot of knowledgeable people here who have been through this crap ( sorry, me not really). Good luck

Where do I start?
I can only tell you what worked for me. I started on percs, moved to oxy several years later. My script was never intended for daily use. After about 10 years on it, I started having withdrawal symptoms when I wouldn't have any. I got prescribed enough to take regular doses every 4-6 hours for about 2 weeks of the month. I would use it just like that, go thru withdrawal, vomiting, cold sweats, diarrhea, feeling like I could crawl out of my skin, just very very uncomfortable. That would last for a few days and then I would be over it. I put myself thru this every month for several years. I finally began to understand what I was doing and going thru when I started feeling like life wasn't worth living anymore. I didn't see the point in it. I also noticed that the only time I felt that way was when I was out of oxy. So I told my Dr I wanted to stop taking it. I was taking it for migraines because insurance doesn't approve enough of the meds that do work for me so the oxy was kinda to offset that. I've had a few more scripts since that time and the withdrawal is still enough for me to never want to take it again. There are certain things that happen when you do take a long term opioid though. Your brain chemistry changes. The way to react to pain changes. I actually feel less physical pain now that I am off of them. There's like a rebound thing that happens so you can feel more physical pain while you're taking the pain meds. I just stopped. No treatment. No other medication ( other than meth). I know there have been studies done about using stimulants for chronic pain. I have a link someone sent me with some interesting information. I'll try to find it and send it to you.
On the other hand if you are scared to detox by yourself, there are so many options out there now for medically assisted treatment. I would advise getting some input from a professional or someone who uses those meds. I do not know enough about them for that. I can tell you my sister takes Subutex. She's been on it for years. We've had conversations about her trying to get off of it and it being very hard. Now we are not professionals in the least, but we decided that the optimal treatment would be to stop pills, start withdrawal, get MAT, and use it for the shortest period of time possible. Maybe a week or so, just to get thru the detox. Good luck with whatever you decide to try. I can tell you that I feel better, physically and mentally since getting off oxy. There's a lot more to this story but I don't want to write much more than I already have. If you're interested just send me a message and I'll fill in the rest.

I should mention that I take duloxetine for fibromyalgia. It is a snri that is also used for chronic pain. I also take methocarbamol muscle relaxer, clonazepam and a few others just for migraine treatment. And my sister takes Suboxone not Subutex.

Slowly make time intervale between your doses longer, than 2-3 days later (or right from start if u don't have to do something serious ) take less, just little bit - one pill or quarter or half of pill less, i don't know your doses but now i am doing the same, lowering tramadol and oxy ER, your body will be upset for a few days just keep on lowering doses and prolonging interdose intervals. Also benzos, pregabalin, weed, clonidine/tizanidine, if not epileptic even low dose antipsychotics works for discomfort...and amphetamines definitelly works but in this type of quitting it's not suitable....good luck..i am on it for 11 years..suffered 20 seizures, tripple fracture of arm bone, fell from stairs while seizing...we have to keep lowering and than stay on low dose or quit completely.
