Hello everyone, I am working towards being tobacco free...simply because the stuff is nasty, and the only reason I smoke it is for the head-rush. I smoke my tobacco with weed in a bong, 70/30 (more tobacco). The head-rush is what keeps me addicted, and what I crave. I would liken it to the feeling of benzodiazpines at high dosages, but only lasts for 30 seconds...with the stronger tobacco I have had out of body experiences similar to ketamine or some other strong tranquilizer.

Believe me, this is not an addiction that you want...and it may sound stupid, but it's really enjoyable because it provides a brief escape from reality (not in a psychedelic way or anything).
But anyways, I am trying to quit for my own health and need some tips on how to cut back and what kinds of w/d symptoms I will experience after quitting smoking daily via bong for 5 years? I plan to continue smoking the cannabis in a pipe for a while, but eventually want to quit that too (or just use before bed).
I know the best way is to just go cold turkey, but I need to focus on school right now and can't be dealing with that shit. Is nicotine gum worth trying, and/or other forms of nicotine replacement? I don't really think it would help because I crave that quick rush from smoking that gum and other methods of administration don't provide.

Only other drugs I know out there that supposedly provide a nice head rush are akyl nitrite, nitrous oxide, and arecoline. Anyone have suggestions?

PS. In HR terms...which of the following substances would be physically/psychologically more damaging in the long term (to be exposed to daily). Please list in order of damage ( I know this is a lot to ask, but please consider )

-American spirit tobacco (smoked in a bong)
-Dokha (Middle eastern tobacco with high nicotine content)
-Nicotine solution (e-cig)
-Arecoline solution (custom made)
-Akyl Nitrite (Poppers)
-Nitrous Oxide (Inhaled daily as needed)
-Ketamine (don't have much experience with)

Ketamine
Nitrous Oxide
Poppers
Ecig
Dohka
American Spirit

Dunno what the other one was.

Snus is good to switch to, but its still tobacco. Ecig is only nicotine vapor so probably your best bet.

What is the order of your list? Are you saying that Ketamine is most harmful, or least harmful? I am guessing ketamine would be most harmful in terms of psychological health, but if it were administered orally on a daily basis I wonder if it would be more harmful in the long run than smoking tobacco (for physical health). Probably a very complex comparison, but I think almost any pharmaceutical drug is easier on the body than tobacco smoke. However, in terms of psychological health...at least tobacco doesn't interfere much with cognitive functions and personality...as far as I can tell.

Bro i quit a serious fentanyl addiction cold turkey, yet here i am still smoking my cigarettes. Nicotine is a hell of a drug, lol. Good luck, only thing that works for me is smoking an ecig but that's like saying you quit opiates while you're still on methadone maintenance :p

Yeah nicotine is a bitch to quit. If you have friends that smoke and/or still use other drugs it can be damn near impossible since it's so easy to just bum one and if you're anything like me the first thing you do when drinking or getting high is to light up a smoke.

Be prepared for some fairly serious irritability and a lack of concentration for a couple of weeks. Nicotine gum and patches are very helpful and you can taper down gradually and reduce the impact of smoking tobacco has on your health. A vaporizer is also a healthier alternative.

The last resort is chantix, which effectively blocks the receptor sites. You can keep smoking at first but since it provides no reward it loses its reinforcing powers until it actually becomes pointless and even unpleasant to smoke. Watch out though it tinkers with your brain chemistry and has been known to cause unpleasant dreams, depression, and even suicidal behavior. I've known people who have wuit smoking after a decade or more using it, I've also known people that couldn't tolerate the side effects and had to stop.

For me, nicotine w/d lasted about 3 days. (The physical part). Light headed and very dizzy. The mental part lasted about a year, and then i caved while drinking, and been smoking for the last 2 years. I've made to the year mark 2 times and started again. 30 year smoker. Sooner you can quit the better. Good luck.

Other way around. Unless of course you mean K-hole. Theres lots of pain diseases and such that use ketamine in the medication.

I ordered them as physically dangerous from least to most. Nitrous, just like ketamine, can be over-used but its physically and psychologically not so bad in small amounts.

Oh and i noticed noone mentioned coping strategies.

Try replacing the oral fixation with a drink of water or carrots or something.

Also, deep breathing and meditation for irritiablity.

Maybe try some advil for the body aches. Could also use caffiene for lack of focus.

e-cigs are ur best bet i guess
i also have a tendency to rip baccy through a bong
i've never had w/d from tobacco just a desire to smoke again
smoking a little tobacco is nearly as bad as smoking a lot of tobacco (for ur heart)
ur better off smoking a day on/day off than a little bit each day

good luck

ketamine can damage the brain in moderate doses after prolonged usage and can cause bladder issues and addiction but it's probably not as bad as that sounds. i would be more concerned about heavy tobacco usage as ketmaine isn't nearly as addictive, causes the bladder issues only in pretty high doses after a long time, and won't cause significant brain damage (unless you're prone to psychosis) unless you use it regularly I would imagine.

Electronics helped me quit tremendously, honestly seemed too easy.
Much easier on your health, although long term effects aren't known, it is obvious that they are generally much less harmful than traditional cigarettes (i suggest reading the chemical counts of carcinogens on wikipedia). After a week, you can totally tell a difference in your breathing quality, as well as just overall physical health.
I recommend them to anyone i know trying to quit.

Good luck regardless!
