ive done plenty other drugs, but have never tried dxm, i got a full bottle of robotussin dm in the house, i dont even know where to start as far as dosing with this, so is 1 bottle enough?

keep in mind, i weigh 200, so i might need more, i dont know...but would like to get some advice because if i can trip tonight, i will

thanks

I've used DXM many times, my usual dose is 600mg (which is a 200ml bottle of Robitussin dm, I think). I'm ~140lb, so this takes me to the low 3rd plateau.
Whenever I try a new drug, I usually take a very low recreational dose just for safety measures. I recommend doing the same; but if you just want to experience it and you know the risks, then go ahead and down that whole bottle. It'll take you up to 2nd plateau (a very good social dose). However, the dissociative experience generally comes in after the 3rd plateau mark, so if you want to experience that then you're going to have to get another bottle of Robitussin and drink some of that, too.
Here's a dosage scale:

So, depending on your tolerance, if you consume 600mg of DXM you should be able to have a pretty good trip, but you won't see any flying pink donkeys. Have fun.

Robitussin DM has Guaifenesin in it. It's not toxic, but it'll make you nauseous, itchy and generally feeling like absolute shit. You need to find a medication that lists ONLY Dextromethorphan (dxm) under active ingredients.

Doses can vary a lot depending on what kind of experience you're aiming for. Low dose DXM is almost like an entirely different drug compared to high dose DXM. DXM doses are normally discussed in plateaus, with 4 distinct plateaus (5 if you count plateau sigma) each with different effects.

Make sure to test a very small amount (~30mg) to see if you have an enzyme deficiency with DXM. If you did, ~30mg would probably produce noticeable effects.

Guai never really caused any major problems for me... I used to take DM up until I found Robo Max Cough at Walgreens.

i'm not sure 30mg is really enough to reliably produce effects in enzyme deficient individuals. i usually tell people 75mg for the first time. it'd suck if the person was enzyme deficient but didn't get effects from 30mg, then went ahead and jumped into a train wreck situation with 300mg.

i understand the reasoning behind saying 30mg. 75mg might be enough to make an enzyme deficient person very uncomfortable for a night. however, even in an enzyme deficient person i think 75mg would have at most minor health risks (nothing a night of sleep/good meal probably wouldn't fix after coming down though).

i'm just a 24 year old drug geek though, not a medical doctor or anything.. so take my advice with a grain of salt. :)

p.s. this is serious business! cyp 2d6 enzyme deficient individuals neglecting to test a low dose first and ending up in the hospital is a fairly common story. you've been warned.

Aren't other psychedelics processed by CYP2D6 as well though? For example if the OP has done MDMA, then he can most likely do DXM... Still better safe than sorry but CYP2D6 deficiency would express itself with a number of pharmaceutical drugs as well.

true, but cyp 2d6 deficiency alters the drug response in different ways for different drugs. for example, the cyp 2d6 enzyme is what turns the codeine into morphine in your body. codeine is mainly a prodrug for morphine and is barely active before being converted. so a cyp 2d6 deficient individual that takes codeine will get little to no affect from it. but if that same person takes a sizeable dose of dxm, they're going to have a severe reaction.

Meanwhile, even the gel caps make me sick occasionally. The Walgreens syrup frequently make me sick, forget about adding guaifenesin to the mix. Best to avoid guai if possible, might make you avoid an uncomfortable experience.
