New Here & Adderall XR after sleepless night/music euphoria

Hey to the Bluelight community, this site has always been a great source for information and is always my first stop to search for information when RXList doesn't cut it ;). Glad you guys are around, hard to find another place online where people can speak with such freedom about drugs, so I thought I might put a little bit back into the site & community, register, and start posting

Was also a little curious about this Adderall XR I have as I'm new to the chemical though. Yesterday I got about 6hrs of sleep, woke up at 8am, took a 10mg adderall XR capsule, went through my day and ended up staying up all night (don't think the adderall I took at 8am would still be affecting me at all by now, so not cause of that). Could sleep till noon but I'm happy with my sleep schedule now, wouldn't be that harmful to take two of the 10mg XRs, correct? I know this stuff is well documented, but I'm thin (138 5'11) and stimulants seem to hit me hard (10mg produces a noticeable buzz), and mixing sleep deprivation/any drug is IME/IMO not the best thing you can do.

When I was on Adderall I had constant insomnia. My dr scripted me clonadine before trazadone.. and that was about it. Neither worked and if the trazadone did it gave me nightmares.. I was a teenager. If you tell your dr about it he might help you regulate your schedule, or put you one something so you can wind down at night.. Good luck!

The half-life for IR Adderall is about 12hr. I'm not sure about the XR version but I'm 99% sure it's a major contributing factor to your insomnia.

Try talking to your GP about it. My guess is he'll probably prescribe you a Z-drug (e.g. Zopiclone).

I don't have true ADD/ADHD my dr actually prescribed me Adderall to help with motivation rather than attention (not knowing I'm also a recreational drug user lol) . I've had chronic insomnia starting when I was a teen, and I have two different non-addictive medications that really help, Seroquel (quetiapine, an antipsychotic), or Remeron (mirtazapine, older antidepressant). Weed or opiates are my favorites when I don't want to get knocked out so quick. Take Effexor daily as well.

I actually ended up sleeping until 12, and didn't need any medication to do it somewhat surprisingly.

IMHO the Adderall could still be affecting your sleep.
I used to have a relatively large (not sure if it'd be large by BL standards ;)) D-Amp habit approx 200+ mg a day, had a seizure and quit.
Since then I seem to have a reversed tolerance.
Note the seizure incidents were approx 3-4 years prior.
Now for more recent experience.
For example I did 3.5mg's of Adderall IR at 5pm on Friday. (Tiny amount I know but since those seizures tolerance seems reversed)
I did not sleep till 8am the following morning though I had been up since early friday.
So yes some people could experience sleep problems as far from there initial dose as you were.
Note that I was also on Oxycodone/Oxymorphone but if anything you would assume they would decreased the stimulation from the Adderall rather than increased it.
To give some perspective I'm somewhat similar on the size thing.
Male, 5'9, 117lbs.

So basically I'd say I agree with ro4eva on it being a major contributing factor.
Everyone reacts differently but some people can definitely have effects that far out.
Also the PH of ones system/urine can affect how long Adderall stays in ones system thus potentially prolonging the experience beyond what one would expect.

When you dosed at 8 am, what were your stomach conditions like? What did you eat the night before til right before you dosed? What did you drink?

After you took it, how frequently did you piss?

What did you do while you were obviously tweaking out?

ps- two would be safe, but taking two so soon would jumpstart a cycle of abuse.

I have insomnia as well and I feel your pain, I just don't use stimulants other than nicotine or caffeine. I am more of a downer type of gal. Good luck!

stop taking amphetamine- its clearly keeping you awake.

taking zoplicone/benzodiazepines of any kind to deal with the side effects from a stimulant that you may or may not need (i think ADHD has gone rediculous in the wide net of people being given powerful stimulants) is silly. stop taking the amphetamine and your insomnia will go.

problem solved logically

Yeah, this is actually my first time with a stimulant more powerful than ephedrine or caffeine. I definitely prefer downers for any recreation...can't ever stand being too wired, took 1g of caff one time.

However, I do lack a lot of motivation (for working, school, going anywhere, being social, just don't see the point in any of it and it's not because I'm depressed) and I used to yawn and feel absolutely exhausted all day even when I'd have a few shots of espresso and more coffee, until I started taking this. Lot better but I while I'll definitely end up trying it rec. never gonna be my DOC or something I constantly use.

You read my posts, lol? I'm good on meds for sleep (could probably sleep forever with the seroquel just popping another when I wake up and eat), don't have ADHD (it's wayyyyy over diagnosed, they're giving amphetamine to 3yr olds now), have had insomnia for 4 years and never taken an amphetamine until last tuesd.

Actually wanted to ask another question about this as I've tried and failed to find good info on it, I get some euphoria and feel even more energized when I listen to music on this stuff, listening to NIN on it is the best.

^ I was a victim of the ritalin wave of the 80s. I was forcefed ritalin throughout my youth starting at 4 or 5 years old. It was HORRIBLE. I never had ADHD, I had anxiety and they made it worse by giving me fucking speed. Everytime I think about it.. the more pissed off I get.
