Hello everyone I've poked around this site for a few years and have learned. a great deal so thanks to the guys/girls that have kept this place running over the years. Now to the problem at hand I have sever chronic back pain, rheumatoid arthritis and have had multiple surgeries over the years for my legs and back. All of this hit me like a sack of hammers in the last 2 years as I was in 3 car accidents(drunk drivers hit me twice) and a 5 car pile up long story short as everything happened in a span of two months I was put into a pain management program and have had great success with it they prescribed me 30mg of oxyneo twice a day with Percocets for flair ups it had been working great until I was transferred to a new doctor he reviewed my chart and asked why my old doctor did not increase the dosage as I was on it for about a year, I told him this was working out for me with my physio therapy and daily routines and didn't feel it was required at this point the new doctor shakes his head and says it should of been increased and he would like to try me on different medication. Who was I to think different this guy specializes in pain treatment over the course of the year I have been on the following medication
Butrans patch 20mcg/h 3 months didn't help and then after a recent knee surgery I was put on suboxone at first it worked great but then I started to feel like a zombie literally the pain continued and he increased the dosage 24mg a day I told him I was still having issues with the medication and hated how it made me feel I stopped going out and socializing my life became a strict work then home regiment.
During my recent Appoitment I told him about all of this and showed him my pain journal he then suggested I go on methadone and he will increase the dose gradually. I finally had the courage to say can you put me back on the oxyneo don't increase the dose keep it the same I was on before 60mg a day. He said fine you can call my nurse and get the prescription but talk to your pharmacist first( my pharmacist is a very good friend)
When I went to see him he told me to stick with the suboxone or go on the methadone even after knowing what I went through and me re explaining.
He left me with a simple challenge to change prescriptions
1) prove that the oxyneo works better
2) prove that the suboxone actually is causing the what I call zombieness
3) and what medication is safer to use
If you have read all the way down here I thank you where would I find resources to show him what he wants to see? Has anyone else been through something like this? Any thoughts or opinions would be much appreciated.
