I've never taken them, but am very interested in if they are benificial to those that have taken them at prescribed doses.
I don't want to know of anyone trying to use them recreationally, or at higher doses than prescribed.
I'm interested if they had any anti-depressant effects and/or mood lifting effects.
In fact any effects at prescribed doses would be nice to know.

They are way too expensive at this time, so I really would like to get as much info from BL's as possible.

Thanks

I made a thread about Modafinil a few weeks ago asking the same sorta thing as a family member is prescribed these and I ran out of amps.

I got mixed reactions from people so I decided to take 2 (1 per day) to see what they were like.

I would have to agree with what most of the people stated. Its a weird drug, it did give me a mood lift and I was more alert however it was nothing to write home about (seriously) It got to the point a few hours after taking it that I had forgotten I took it. So for me its kinda not worth it. The best I could describe it would be like having a cup of good strong coffee.

However the family member that takes these for narcolepsy has told me they work great and keep her motivated throughout the day. Shame it didn't have the same effect on me.

This is exactly what I have read about it, and in my case, I think that is all I actually need (what you said above).
Instead of taking antidepressants.

This is one of the main reasons what this drug is prescribed for, and it seems like it does the job better and cleaner than Ritalin. (again this is just my interpretation of what I have read about modafinil).

Thanks

Well I took it because my amp supply had ran out and I needed a little pick me up. Which it gave me just not anywhere near the level I was expecting. As I said I could have probably got the same effect from some decent coffee.

I would probably take these again if I got to the point where it was that or nothing but I wouldn't go out my way to get them.

hopefully you find some good use for them.

Thanks, maybe oneday when they aren't so ridiculously priced.
In fact I would have already tried them if it weren't for the cost.

I found modafinil gave me a mood lift, not at first, but after taking it daily for about two weeks (50mg-100mg per day, only enough to keep me awake--I always had caffeine with it). Now I'm on Nardil (phenelzine) and I take it to combat the drowsiness side effect. All it'll really do is keep you awake. I like it more than coffee because I was drinking 8 cups/day when I first took the modafinil and caffeine wasn't really helpful anymore. I cut down to 2-4 cups a day for the nardil, but the modafinil helps more with alertness.

Overall I love it. It's rather expensive if you buy it from Cephalon in the U.S., but there are better ways to go about things than that.

Edit: I found it very helpful in helping me combat the fatigue from depression and getting shit done in general.

I caution you against taking this drug for depression if its not indicated for such or unless there is substantial evidence supporting such a use.

What did you originally take it for? Narcolepsy?

I hear you, but I'm trying to get the best information about it, And I am aware the drug isn't prescribed for depression, but that is the whole point, am I depressed? I'm pretty sure I am not.
Would it make my life better if I got certain chores done, but never have that "just do it" feeling.
So the above sentence is the "depression I am feeling" if that makes sense.

I tried it, took it right after I woke up.
No effect, fell asleep again.

Took it when I didn't sleep when I went to school.
Worked. Felt like I had slept.

Took it after a night of sleeping with my girl and not sleeping besides 2 hrs.
Felt like shit, was depressed all day. I didn't fall asleep though.

OP, you keep saying 'it is expensive, it is too expensive'. It is not. I can get a 200mg tablet at $.50-$1.00. I hope this doesn't break rules as it isn't a scheduled compound. It isn't worth it though. I can get grams of 4FA and other amphetamines for cheaper. I have a script for Adderall and Dexedrine too.

If you don't have a do it feeling, buy Nike product or look for a non drug solution. If you're asking for a drug to take for motivation, look no further than Adderall. You aren't suffering from depression, you are suffering from laziness, and anything that pushes you will help. Try to turn off your computer or look for help at Adderall quitting sites. http://quittingadderall.com/

Depression, kind of. I didn't expect it to help, but I was always tired, and caffeine wasn't enough, I was behind on a lot of my schoolwork. My job shifts are also 10 pm-3 am which screw up my sleep schedule. I took it to feel less fatigued, in part to get work done, and in part to be more social since I was pretty much shutting myself away from people and laying in bed/browsing the web most of the day due to depression. Curiosity also played a role. Ultimately I didn't originally go looking for it, but my friend whose prescribed it for chronic fatigue gave me some and I thought it was wonderful immediately. I also liked how it improved my compound lifts by 5-10lbs as well. Overall it didn't necessarily help with the depression, but it helped with the fatigue/antisocial behavior etc...which after a week or two of resulted in a mood lift, I think, rather than the drug itself causing the mood lift.

Edit: I'll note that I'm technically diagnosed with depression, which is a bit of an arbitrary label, but a lot of people throw the word around for being sad due to some life event for a month or something rather than years of consistently looking at the world through a lens of pure, horrifying, shit.
