I was doing an essay on snake venom for school, and I accidentally stumbled upon an article in which they said something about 2 drugs extracted from Indian (spectacled) cobra venom, one is K-72 and the other K-76, apparently they are very popular in New Delhi, so I was wondering has anyone tried them and I would like to see a trip report since I didn't find one on the web yet, this is interesting for me coz I am into natural drugs, so if anyone finds anything about this fill me in please.

why is it hard to believe? people gad been getting high on toads, why not snakes? and let me quote an article: "The pills, named K-72 and K-76, are noted to cost <a hefty sum of money> per dose" so they are really costly, no one would pay that much for something that isn't really awesome...

<:|> Honestly, a little rational intuition- does the whole thing not sound a bit far-fetched? Is there any corroborating evidence whatsoever, or any suggestion as to the possible identity of these substances? One Indian news report taking information from the police (first-world police forces are horribly unreliable sources of information about drugs, you think the guys in Delhi know what they're talking about?) does not make for a compelling body of proof. btw, toad-licking is a myth, 5-MeO-DMT is orally inactive, there may be a very few people who like smoking it and bufotenine together, and farming frogs for the purpose, but it's certainly a very niche activity.

I wasn't talking about licking, 5-MeO-DMT is extracted from a dead frog and then smoked... anyway, spectacled cobra was used in many rituals in India, people were using that venom before they found out how to extract it, it isn't a myth I did a lot of research on the subject, and from what I see it is a stimulant consumed with alcohol to break up the proteins so you don't ingest poison just the psychoactive contents, but I didn't find a single trip report so I thought what better place to start than here, maybe there are rich members from New Delhi who tried it, and since it is a costly stimulant I would like a comparison with other stimulants to see if it's worth the cash or just a "status drug"

My understanding is that snake venom is just that, a venom rather than a poison, and that oral administration is harmless, parenteral administration is necessary for toxicity. Your digestive system is very efficient at metabolising proteins, I should wager a good deal more so than brief mixing with dilute ethanol.
Sorry tripster, 'twas only in jest.

tnx for that info, I thought poison was the same thing as venom, in my language poison and venom share the same word so I didn't see the difference... anyway if someone finds more info on this topic please post it here tnx

By not only doing something that is medically questionable, using snake venom recreationally also contributes to the cruelty towards animals, as the snakes (some of which are a protected species) are killed to harvest the venom.

Don't do it.

lol, thats just an excuse to ban the drug, lets say you have a duck that lays golden eggs, it can lay golden eggs every day, why would you kill it to get the egg out? snakes can be milked every day, killing one to get the venom is just retarded...

That's how its done whether you think it's "retarded" or not.

it's not how it's done, it's how the media say it's done to give you a negative stance on the subject, a lot of medication comes from snake venom, and they don't accuse the pharmaceutical companies of killing snakes, just the drug dealers... you have to be really retarded to kill your almost infinite source of money... do you cut an apple tree to get the apples off of it?

I happen to collect venomous snakes, especially cobras. I have several species including Naja naja, Naja atra, Naja melanoleuca, Naja samarensis, and Naja arabica. I have also written many articles about the cobra family as a whole. It is true that many pharmaceuticals are made from snake venoms, particularly venom from the Viperidae family (vipers). In India some do actually purposely get themselves bitten by juvenile Spectacled cobras (also known as Indian cobras, or Naja naja) to get high. Some reported side effects include euphoria and sedation. This was reported by Dr. Katshu in his book "Snake Bite as a Novel Form of Substance Abuse: Personality Profiles and Cultural Perspectives".

I had a Natrix natrix coz my parents didn't let me buy a venomous snake, I would like to have a Naja naja, ofc not to get high from it's bite coz that scares me a little, I would like to have it coz it has a upside down dick drawn on it's head xD and I was wondering how do you get one and do you need a permit or something to have it because it's poisonous, also if you could pm me how much (give or take) it costs since it is against forum policy to post prices, I am also into snakes and cobras are by far the most interesting, and Naja naja bite is rarely fatal so I figured it would be the safest cobra to have...

I don't think the price policy has anything against posting the price of a snake... Unless you're going to get high off the snake...

Yes, the cobra venom is composed of proteins, they get digested and chopped up into amino acids just like the protein in a steak would. This is not dangerous, it's a placebo effect the users are getting.
