I'm going down to Melbourne for the queens birthday weekend and my friend has got some magic mushrooms lined up for me. I have never had mushies before, so I'm curious to know how long the effects last (dont want to be tripped out for the whole weekend!) and also any advice on a suitable setting and what to expect.

I recently went picking for and tried some in Canberra. I've done heaps of tabs and this was my first time at mushrooms. I was amazed at the lack of paranoia normally associated with the tabs. I took anout 7 medium sized freshly picked mushrooms. It lasted about 1 hour, and virtually no comedown. Straight into normality. Only drawback is it didn't work to nearly the same degree when I tried it again.

Dunno about skeltor's description, my experience is that the duration is about 6 hours, with main intensity starting after as little as 30 mins depending on other factors (strength, dosage, empty stomach etc). Expect an LSD like experience, with all the trimmings and abundant natural energy. I would recommend that you have nothing planned for the following day as often some chill and reflect time is needed.
