Bought some supposed "pure" mdma powder from a new source but I have heard good things from the source. The color instantly turns into a dark purple with brownish on it. When I wiped the plate with the paper towel it leaves a purple nearly black residue (edit: 1 hour later the paper towel residue turned green, i don't know if this means anything just adding as much info as I can). I tried these last night at 100mg (I am 6'4 215lbs) and it took an hour to feel anything and I felt a little heavy in the legs and cloudy in the head. Not much if any euphoria, some lights seemed brighter and I had a friend over but I wasn't very talkative as I have been on other mdma. Also I didn't feel any of the head tingles on the back of my head that I have always felt the past 3 times I have rolled. Prior to trying these I had not ate anything for 3 hours and I have not rolled for 3 months. After about 2 hours from the initial 100mg dose I felt completely normal and felt nothing from the mdma. Given the pictures and what I felt, what would you all think this is? I might just need to dose higher and I will probably start with 150mg the next time I do it.

I think the standard MDMA dose is 1 to 1.5 mg per kg. You weigh 215lbs which is just under 98kg, so 100mg to 150mg should be plenty for someone your weight without a huge tolerance issue. How sure are you of the purity of your powder? If it really is pure I would be surprised, but it is not impossible. If it is, say, 70-80% pure, then your 100mg dose will only really be a 70-80mg dose and may explain the lack of effects you experienced. Perhaps it is just not as pure as it's supposed to be...

Crystal structure or powder consistency as well as color, taste and smell can be good indicators of purity and identification. Some cuts and "molly" mixes can yield some interesting results. The reagent is nearly pure sulfuric acid and is corrosive so care should be taken when using it. I prefer to put a small portion of reagent on a glass dish and carefully place a small portion of unknown compound on it, this will let you observe it as it makes contact. Careful observation is needed for an accurate identification. End color is only one factor, Initial color, color changes and the time between them are just as critical. Judging by your observations and pictures, It could be a few variables. Mixing d-amp/d-meth with mdma/mda/mde is not uncommon and could produce a purplish brown, so could mdma and a hint of sugar. DXM will fade to a deep black but is noticeable, how quick was the initial color displayed?

Crystal structure, consistency, color, taste and smell are no indication of anything whatsoever. I've had fake stuff that looked, tasted and smelled exactly like real MDMA (besides, pure pharmaceutical grade MDMA is odorless, a smell is an indication of impurities, but those will always be present in street quality MDMA), as did many other on this forum and on other harm reduction websites. I've also had seriously awesome MDMA that didn't look anything like any MDMA I'd ever seen before. Any aspect of MDMA can be faked and is being faked. The only way to be somewhat sure is a reagent test and the only way to be completely sure is GC/MS. The other information you mention is however correct and nicely summed up

To the OP: The effects you experience could have been from too low of a dose but could also have been because of fake product. It's very hard to tell from the pictures, but in my case a marquis test that was positive for MDMA never had any brown tint to it, just purple to black. Mandelin reagent positive for MDMA does have a bit of a red/brown tint to it (though only a tint, the liquid is mostly purple/black during and after the reaction), but marquis in my experience does not
