Ok here is the deal. I have a few $$ laying around and would like to invest in a CD changer for my car.
I need to get this CD changer installed and going before feb4th, cuz i'll be having a lil party inside my car on the way to Secret Society. hee hee j/k
Just need to get some info if anybody in nyc knows of any places where i can hook this up. I'm not looking for a whole system for my car... i can't afford that.. i just need a CD changer.
Would really appreciate any info..
thanks...
ps: this is just so that all bluelighters that i'll be transporting to and from SECRET SOCIETY CAN CHILL AND LISTEN TO SOME PHAT TUNES...

Drygnfly...I am a certified installer myself, and my advice would be to go with an Alpine changer. I don't know any of the shups up where you are, but I think Alpine makes some of the best CD players on the market. Their suspensions are real nice. What this means is that on your way to secret society you won't get your groove busted by skipping cd's from bumps in the road. On the other end of the spectrum, I'd say to stay away from Kenwoor stuff. I used to have a kenwood changer before I knew any better, and it scratched all my cd's to hell because they are poorly designed. If you got any more questions lemme know....otherwise I'll see you on the 28th at Polly's....that is if the snow stops and I can still drive up there. Well talk to you later man.

Drgnfly,
I have a Premier disc changer which is a Pioneer product. I installed it myself which was a pretty easy thing to do once your head unit is all set up. I have had pioneer in my car for like 4 years and I have had great luck with them. I do have a system in my car...and if you are thinking about ever putting one in make sure you check your options with the dealer. Email me if you want more help. once again ((((((BIG HUGS)))))))

Damn, i'm such an E-tard today...can't even type.... well, that was supposed to be 'shops' instead of 'shups', and 'Kenwood' instead of 'Kenwoor'.....oh well. Oh, and the Premier stuff is pretty nice too. Talk to you later.

they're both right
im a huge fan of Alpine (pricey though)
i think for the money (unless you're a rich consultant or something

) the best value are the pioneers
if you can... get one that you can control with your head unit's changer controls...
what kind of head unit you have, drgn?

YOOO you guys/girls(for the cutie that rollwitit is...) are the bomb...
well lets see... my car is pretty factory... when i got my car i got pretty much all the options except a CD changer. I have a volvo 850GLT... aka green dragon. The speakers are pretty descent.. has some kick to it...and from my understanding is that i can't just get anything and stick it into my car (i'm soo dumb when it comes to shit like this... hee hee)
i checked the alpines and some pioneers too...
how is the cd loading time on the pioneers? i saw that the alpines have one of if not the fastest changing times.
yo i gotta hook this shit up cuz i wanna be able to take all you bluelighters in my car with some kick ass tunes...

You mentioned that your car was pretty factory, if the deck is factory you might not have the capabilities of hooking up a changer, the deck would have need to have the correct DIN output to communicate with the changer. If you aer putting in a new deck as well, I would reccommend a Sony ES model(I like the look and the performance of Sony all together) Good luck with the Tunes

The high end sony stuff is good, but I'd say to stay away from the lower level stuff from sony. That stuff is just crap......cheap internals, cheap everything. Just my .02 cents......
By the way, Drgnfly, how much you lookin to spend?

Hey,
Yeah thats what i was thinking as well. That if my car just has a factory unit that i might have problems hookin a changer to it.
And in terms of how much... hmm i really don't know. I looked into the Alpine stuff as chipmunk said and saw that the changers are around $300. I'm ok with that i guess. If i can something else cheaper would be better more $$ for beans.. hahaha...
How much should i be lookin to spend without changing the head unit? And what if i did change the head unit?
appreciate all the 411
