So... A few weeks ago i met this girl who is a good friends with my mate. Anyway we ended up having unprotected sex for the last few weeks and i noticed all these little red dots appear all over the knob of my penis. Now... i had heard(after the fact) someone tell me that she had just been gone through treatment for chlamydia and genital warts but i know that you cant actually be treated for them and she is simply a carrier.

Im trying to think of the best way to handle this. I mean.. she didnt tell me this, so im kind of pissed off about it. But at the same time i like her and the sex is really good. We hang out a few times a week and we enjoy each others company.

But now i have HPV for the rest of my life and can no longer have unprotected sex with any future partner without risking giving them warts. I can how ever just keep having sex with her as.. well... shes already got it.

Its fucked and i dont know what to do. Im going to a doctor in a couple days but yeah some help or advice regarding this situation would be great.

Unless I'm mistaken, isn't it something like half of all sexually-active people already have HPV? So, you're in real good company. I'm just surprised that you developed actual warts because most men do not. I wouldn't worry too much about it, man. I think that you'll feel much better about the whole thing once you talk to your doctor.

Hmm, that doesn't sound anything like HPV to me - it sounds like HSV. Herpes. Little red dots would indicate herpes, not warts. Warts generally look like cawliflower (sp) or skin tag like, kind of a hard blister - and if you develop warts, they could have come from any partner that you have ever had. Sometimes they can pop up a significant amount of time after you've contracted it.

From the Center of Disease Control website:
Genital human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common virus. Most sexually active people in the United States (U.S.) will have HPV at some time in their lives. There are more than 40 types of HPV that are passed on through sexual contact. These types can infect the genital areas of men, including the skin on and around the penis or anus. They can also infect the mouth and throat.
Most men who get HPV (of any type) never develop any symptoms or health problems. But some types of HPV can cause genital warts.
Warts may be single, grouped, raised, flat, or cauliflower-shaped. They usually do not hurt.
Warts may appear within weeks or months after sexual contact with an infected person.
Since HPV usually causes no symptoms, most men and women can get HPV—and pass it on—without realizing it. People can have HPV even if years have passed since they had sex. Even men with only one lifetime sex partner can get HPV.
There is no approved test to find genital warts for men or women. However, most of the time, you can see genital warts. If you think you may have genital warts, you should see a health care provider.
There is no test for men to check one’s overall “HPV status.” But HPV usually goes away on its own, without causing health problems. So an HPV infection that is found today will most likely not be there a year or two from now.

In my humble opinion, when somebody chooses to have unprotected sex with someone, you are voluntairily (sp) taking a knowing risk of disease and pregnancy. Even if you flat out ask somebody before you have sex: "hey, do you have any STD's?" and they say no, and you go on having the unprotected sex, you're still taking a huge risk. Although it is shitty that somebody would knowingly pass on an STD, unfortunately it happens ALL THE TIME. So, really, you can't be mad at the girl if you contracted something because you knowingly took the risk to have sex without a condom. Maybe that sounds harsh, but it's true. I know that when I have sex with somebody without a condom, I am fully ready to assume the responsibility of any unfortunate results that may come of it. I am an adult and I make my own decisions, and I must reap the consequences when they are given.

Please, go to the doctor as soon as possible to get the dots examined. If the dots aren't there, it's harder for the doctor to determine exactly what it is. As the information from the CDC said above, there isn't a test for HPV for men. However, a blood test for herpes is available, although not always reliable. Both diseases are unfortunate, but they are manageable, and they are absolutely not the end of the world. Good luck.

your symptoms don't really sound like genital warts but i'll answer your question as if you are infected.

in most cases HPV resolves on its own in individuals with healthy immune systems. HPV strains that cause genital warts are low-risk (they do not cause cancer) and are treatable with topical creams (Aldara) or minor surgical treatments like burning or freezing. (i HIGHLY recommend Aldara; it works by accelerating your immune system and clearing the warts). after a few short months to up to a two years, you will no longer have the virus or it will be so suppressed you'll not be a carrier or experience any future symptoms. HPV is extraordinarily common (at least 80% of sexually active people WILL acquire the virus at some point in the lives) and if you're sexually active, it's likely you've already had a strain or two and not known (most people won't even develop symptoms). while not curable, HPV is NOT life-long and is often eradicated by your own immune system.

also, because condoms do not cover the entire infected genital area and because you contract the highly-contagious virus by coming in contact with infected skin cells, while they do help some, condoms are not fool-proof in the prevention of contracting the virus.

it sucks, but it's really, very common and in the grand scheme of things, a minor hiccup in your sexual activity. see your doctor. believe me, you won't be the first or last person he/she sees with these symptoms.

I am your fuck buddy.

I need advice :/

I have HPV (visibly) and am Currently abstinent. I'm going to get another "treatment" (a.k.a. burning them off with some acid) next week. After they are not visible, I'm going to let myself get closer (emotionally) to someone I'm seeing, and maybe in the future have sex with him.

How should I go about telling him I am a carrier? I've done it before more than a few times, but I really like this one and honestly in the past I've always told my partner in the heat of the moment, which I know is not fair.

Also I have had 3 breakouts of an unknown STI this year. Both times, the OB said it looked like herpes, but the test came back negative. So that's scary. Sometimes I feel a pain down my leg associated with the breakout. Very creepy, and scary because no one knows what it is. :(

I don't think it's fair for me to try and have sex at all, until this unknown thing has not shown up for at least a year. At least, that is how I would want to be treated.

Thoughts please??

I had a friend something similar happened.... Except listen to this.... He cheated on his GF of 4 years with a ex that gave him the herp.... He told his current girlfriend about the situation that he has nows Herpes... His GF said she would take him back(with the herpes) as long as he gave her gave her 2 kids....They where already living with each other for 3 years.... So he got pretty much put on lock down since that event, she can hold you cheated on me and gave me herpes over his head...

I recommend finding a girl with herpes and trying to settle down....

Go to a doctor or an HIV/STD clinic where you can get tested for free and see if you have HPV. A friend of mine has HPV and he found out that way. Another friend of mine has HPV and at least you don't have warts up your ass like he did which he had removed via laser.

I also know other people who have had sex with partners who told them how they had herpes or HPV and they did not get infected but they avoided sex with said partner(s) when the person was having a break out, and the other person had been on treatment for the HPV or herpes.

Huh? So far as I know, there is no test for HPV beyond a visual inspection of the warts (if warts appear). At least, this is the case for men, the last time I checked.

Holy shit, jeez. She's so desperate for a kid that she'll have sex with a guy with the herp to have them? Sheesh. There are clean guys who will do it if that's really all she wants. lol Good lord. Sometimes, I gotta wonder about my fellow gender and their train of thought when it comes to having kids.

From wiki - "Most HPV infections in young females are temporary and have little long-term significance. Seventy percent of infections are gone in 1 year and ninety percent in 2 years.[5]"

And most men have no symptoms.
If it is HPV, it is going to go away on its own.
Your immune system sees to it, but there is no treatment beyond boosting the immune system and waiting.
And the type of HPV that causes warts does NOT cause cancer, even of the cervix.
It is the undetected form that progresses to cancer...

If you do have it, you need to be honest with any future partners until you go at least a year without symptoms.
Having sex with the same woman is not a moral issue, and she may be rather pleased that you still want to fuck her knowing what she gave you...and she should know.

And I agree that you probably do NOT have warts, if they are red dots.
Even herpes sounds unlikely, since 'dots' is not the typical presentation.
Herpes usually involves sores that scab over, although many men have tiny, nearly invisible spots that itch.

And lots of people with herpes do not have symptoms at all.
Women tend to have outbreaks more often than men, which are obvious and painful.
This can include pain in the legs or lower back, as the virus lives on the nervous system.
Men can spread the disease because they simply live with a minor itching all the time.
They may not be aware that it is even herpes, and they often do not experience outbreaks like women.
I would know - I have it.

To be perfectly honest, for me herpes is hardly a concern.
Once every few years the wife has a bad breakout, which sucks.
But I have never had a single one. Just a tiny little spot that itches and becomes maybe 10% more visible.
It is not on the head, its on the shaft skin and is nearly impossible to see even up close.

But I realized that if I was having sex while itching she was more likely to have a minor breakout, so the virus was replicating.
Occasionally it would happen and I wouldn't itch until a day or two later.
Did we stop having sex? Fuck no.

I take acyclovir on a daily basis now.
It completely eradicates the itching and never loses effectiveness, going on 4 years of taking it.
According to the powers that be, the herpes virus does not build up a resistance to long-term medication use.
I can literally take the stuff for the rest of my life, and there are no side-effects!
Even better, Walmart sells the stuff really cheap.
$8 per month and I'm golden.

She has never had an outbreak while I was on my acyclovir, and the other two women I have been with (with wife's consent) also did not contract the virus. No condoms, no problem.
But the key is the medication.

Considering how prevalent the fucking virus is, they should be putting acyclovir in our drinking water!
Apparently most pornstars have it, no surprise since condoms are non-existent in most porn.
And herpes is the most spread disease after influenza world-wide! It is quite popular. :D

Valtrex is more bioaviailable, but much more expensive.
Acyclovir is the way to go and it works 100% for me.
Both work by inhibiting viral replication. The virus looks for a protein molecule to insert into new cells near its root (in the nerve), but acyclovir makes its way into the protein synthesis instead. This prevents cellular replication and spreading.
My wife says it does very little for her once her outbreak starts, unless she takes is constantly throughout the day.
When I have more than typical itching, I also find that multiple doses are necessary to quell the itch.
But if I stay on top of taking one per day, it never comes up anymore.

And I get to have sex with other women.

So don't be too discouraged.
Whether HPV or herpes, this is not a death-sentence for your sex life.
It just isn't.
Eight bucks a month isn't that big of a deal, either.

Just don't go spreading that shit around, because women have a lot more suffering from the disease than men.
It just isn't fair, but if it weren't this way the damn thing wouldn't be everywhere. The virus knows what it is doing.

Oh yeah - I can't eat peanut butter or anything with almonds/nuts.
The arginine content makes the itching happen for sure. Apparently this amino acid feeds the damn virus, so a lot of exercise supplements and sex supplements are out for us. I can always just take lysine and more acyclovir, but in general peanut butter is a thing of the past. :(

It probably isn't herpes for the OP n.e.wayz.
Red dots just doesn't sound right. Red splotches that turn into sores, maybe.
But you would know it was herpes then and so would the doc. But tests often do not detect herpes!
This is important to know. Only during an outbreak does a direct swab result in a positive test.
Blood tests are often negative even in people with the virus, especially during the first few years.
Eventually the antibodies build up to a point that it is noticeable in test results.
This is how they know that most people have the fucking virus - random samples of people on the street show a 70-90% prevalence of the antibodies in the general population!

Yes, most people have both HPV and herpes!
And don't even know it.
Virology is fun. :D

what_to_do

It likely is herpes if the doctor thinks it is.
Even direct swabs often come up negative because your immune system has killed so much of the virus.
But the sore itself is pretty unmistakable to a doctor with STI experience.
It probably is herpes, sweetie.

The first few outbreaks are usually the worst, with the first one being way more invasive than future outbreaks.
If it wasn't a horrifying experience with your genitals covered in sores, you are going to be ok. I swear.
Even if it was, you are still going to be ok and have lots of sex. I swear to god.

My wife has only had three bad outbreaks in ten years, not counting the initial infection.
For the first 4 years she did have several minor outbreaks each year, like 4 per year.
But then her immune system started kicking its ass, and she now has maybe 1 per year (still minor).
And it seems that after each one, she is very unlikely to have another one anytime soon.
The longer she has had it, the longer she goes between outbreaks.
In the course of our relationship, which is nearly ten years now, we have only missed out on maybe 3 months worth of sex collectively!

So it gets a lot easier with time. But she can't eat peanut butter either. She's more sensitive to it than i am!
Other than nuts, there aren't many arginine containing foods.
If you do eat peanut butter, make sure you take a large dose of lysine with it (at the same time and later).
Lysine competes with arginine directly.

And get a prescription for acyclovir.
The wife doesn't take it regularly because it increases the odds of getting an outbreak, especially when she runs out or lowers her dose.
She calls it 'rebound' or something like that...

Although the many resources that exists officially say that 'you may spread the virus to your partner even between outbreaks'...
This is generally not true.
Consider the source, which is usually the pharmaceutical companies selling the medications.
Yes, it is possible....but quite unlikely if you are paying attention to symptoms.

When the virus is dormant, it is not replicating and it is not leaving the nerve it sits on.
There is no open sore, there is very little risk of spreading.
Especially as a female.

Men are the spreaders of this disease, because their symptoms are so minor or non-existent they just don't give a shit.
Women do not spread the virus, typically, because they have terrible outbreaks that prevent sex.
Men, at least for me, have constant but very minor symptoms. It is so minor that they just live with it and fuck anyways. Sad, but effective way for the virus to spread.

It took my wife four years to give it to me!!
And guess what? It wasn't SEX that caused it!
It was holding hands during a bad outbreak.

That's right - I held her hand at an airport and then went to the bathroom!
That is how I finally caught the damn virus from her. lol.
Maybe that is why it wasn't a bad breakout for me and never left the tiny spot it lives in.

She never had sex around an outbreak and she washed her hands frequently when she had one.
This was all the protection I needed to avoid catching it, until the hand-holding incident.
So any future boyfriend could be offered protection in the same way, in your case.

But make sure to avoid nuts, and do not have sex at all around itching, even the slightest itch as it is a sign of impending outbreak and viral replication.
Stress is also a factor, even traveling to a humid climate can cause it for her.
So if going to the beach, make sure you are taking acyclovir!
It sucks not being able to fuck on vacation.

I know it really sucks just having the virus, and you feel like your sex life is over before it starts.
But try to remember that you have a vagina.
I know this statement may not make sense to you, but lots of guys will understand what I'm saying.
Unless you have active sores, you will always be able to find a sex partner.

If you are worried about relationship issues and not just fucking...
Try to be brave. Men won't necessarily run away. And you can use condoms until you are ready to tell them.
There is no need to tell them unless they are exposed to risk.
And when you tell them, you can communicate what I have told you - that even without condoms the risk is minor if you are cautious.

If you stay with a guy long enough, he is likely to catch it.
But then he may discover, as I did, that it is not the horrible infection that most people believe.
I have seen pictures of guys that have awful sores, but the vast majority of them simply do NOT.
Just date as you wish, and use protection until you think there are real feelings.
But don't wait more than a few months after sex begins to share, and make sure you protect him until then.

Then send him to read this thread so he can relax and not freak out.
You are going to be just fine.

My friend has HPV up his ass, and the warts appeared and that's how he found out. He later had them removed via surgery. He got HPV from having receptive anal sex. He's VERY lucky he never got HIV even though during the early 80s and even as late as the late 80s he was not using condoms and he was a bottom for anal sex.

Other friends of mine who are male who have HPV told me how the warts either appeared up their ass or on their penis.

genital, anal or oral warts are a symptom of low-risk HPV. there is currently no test for high-risk HPV in men until AFTER they've developed serious conditions like cancer, at which time a removed tumor or lesion can be analyzed. (a previous doctor of mine said that there is testing in lab settings but that there aren't many volunteers due to its invasive nature.)

i have recently read that many doctors are encouraging those who engage often in anal sex with multiple partners to have a regular anal PAP test. a PAP tests for abnormal cells and if found, they can use the same sample for a high-risk HPV test.

Thanks for clarifying. I had no idea that strains of HPV that create warts in someone's anus, vagina, or on their genitals or in their throat were low risk.

I don't engage in unprotected anal or vaginal sex at all but I do have other types of sex where you can easily get herpes or HPV.

I did look into getting vaccinated with Gardasil but it's very expensive.
