i am currently on adderall xr 30mg. with 10mg. ir for adhd, and clonazepam and temazepam for insomnia.

i also have anxiety problems(not due to the adderall), and my doc is pushing to put me on prozac or zoloft to treat the anxiety. i have a feeling it won't do anything, but my doc(who isn't very bright for a doctor8)) keeps pushing for it. serotonin syndrome was considered possible, but he said he would make proper adjustments and it was nothing to worry about.

is here anybody being treated adderall and an antidepressant?

does it work? what effect would this combo have?(note that i'm not looking for a recreational effect, but legitamite treatment for my problems)

*also, i'm trying to avoid even more benzos, so thats why i asked if antidepressants would help(combined with adderall).

Anti-depressants (SSRIs) are commonly used with low-to-moderate doses of psychostimulants (i.e. non-recreational doses) and shouldn't cause any major problems. It is very common for psychiatrists to prescribe SSRIs along with psychostimulants to treat ADHD w/ co-morbid anxiety.

Although d,l-amphetamine has serotonergic action, it isn't as much as methamphetamine's action on serotonin. Again, as long as you aren't taking ridiculously high doses of amphetamine the risk of serotonin syndrome with an SSRI is low.

personally, I've always found the SSRIs to make my anxiety worse. Maybe you could ask him about trying an anti-dep that doesn't work purely on your seritonin? There are a few out there, I forget which ones, I think maybe welbutrin and remeron? Go to the library and look it up in the DSM-IV if you are really interested.

But based on my experience, adding a pure SSRI can make your anxiety worse. At least it did mine.

Learning to spell would be an indication of whether the meds are close to working. If you can type, you should be able to "spell."

SSRI's are not effective anxiolytics, except in cases where a placebo would work just as well.

I would suggest looking into less addictive anxiolytics like hydroxyzine.

I personally don't think you can do much for anxiety when it comes to drugs, except in the short term. For long term anxiety, therapy/lifestyle changes are more effective.

that mistake was just a mix of being tired and not being the best speller in the world, theres no need for sarcasim...

welbutrin is a bad idea, its a DNRI so it will likely cause overstimulation, anxiety, and maybe heart problems if combined with adderall, plus it lowers your seizure threshold which could be a problem if added to adderall.

If you recall when Rick James died, He was on a large number of serotonin-syndrome-inducing agents, but they were considered not to be at levels to cause it. They can be used together (hell I've smoked meth while on Effexor before). In this case the dosage makes the poison. Although I really can't recommend SSRI's, if you think it may help you could give it a try.

Too much pills if you add anything else man I think you should look for alternative way to relieve some stress and anxiety in the day if you just take you kpins at night.

You take the benzos when the Adderall is wearing off or do you do both at the same time? The right amount of amphetamine evenly spread along the day generally takes away my anxiety, with no need to resource to downers. As for SSRIs, they invariably do make my anxiety worse and seem to dampen the pleasant effect I get from moderate amphetamine use.

im prescribed prozac 20mg and and vyvanse 50 mg and abilify 5mg
youll be fine even if i abused the combo.
i got amps with the ssri and ive taken 290 mg of vyvanse and been fine.

yes, it gave me a new perspective on life.
i like the combo becease it makes you want to do things.
im doing good in school now and i dont do stupid things anymore .
It really helped my problems.

The only promblem i see in it is that your tolerance goes up very fast.
i started on 10 mg adderall ir twice a day and then got i got vyvanse .

but my tolerance is really high and i hate it.
but it didnt ruin the theraputic effects,i still focus good, just the good rush is gone. :\
also my eyes sometimes get blurry when i come down but that goes away after i crash.
