Hello,

Next Sunday I step on the plane in Boston and fly out to Las Vegas. I have a bunch of friends that live out there. I'm flying out alone but I might have one of my buddies convinced to go with me though...

My boys have been living out there for a while so I'm sure they won't want to run around the city with me so I might be off on my own during the day time.

My question is what are the Must Things to Do in Vegas..... I'm going out there for 7 nights 8 days so I want to do everything possible. Any good suggestions on what to do??? I kind of want to set up a good itinerary

Here is a mini trip report I did last summer. Should get you in the mood!

KAPPA'S SIN CITY TRIP REPORT

There is so much to do in Vegas, take loads of money. The more you take the more you can do.

Don't miss:

  • The rides at the top of the Stratosphere Tower
  • The Grand Canyon
  • Champagne Brunch at the Wynn
  • Caramel, Ghost etc bars/nightclubs. Ask your concierge to get you passes
  • The $30 kitchen table poker at O'Sheas (if it's still there, they were going to knock it down)
  • Pure nightclub in Caesars

i was literally crying on the ride atop the stratosphere. the funny thing is my hubby didn't want to do it, and i was chiding him and calling him a pussy, yet i was the one who was a nutcase.

this is me getting a drink trying to calm down afterwords... =D

it is terrifying. a yr later we went back and during that trip the ride got stuck as it was hanging off the side of the building. i couldn't imagine dangling there for hours, as they did.

will you have a car or be able to rent a car? hoover damn is only a half-hour drive from vegas:

also, i know it's super cheesy but check out the pirate ship show at the treasure island - every 90 minutes or so i think. it's a great spectacle and it's free :)

Get hammered, then get the $4.99 steak & eggs. Preferably around 3 AM. Vomit. Sleep. Wake up, drink, repeat.

if you go to the dam, be sure not to do the dam tour, very boring. it is a great drive though, rent a fast car and enjoy it!

be sure to check out all of the free shows that are at the casinos; bellagio's water show, mirage's volcano, TI's siren/pirate thing. definitely do the coasters at stratosphere but i wouldnt' waste my money on the coaster at NY, NY, it was very jerky and gave me a huge headache.

it's going to be fucking HOT out there, bring plenty of water and stop inside the casinos to cool down. it's blazing even at night so remember to stay hydrated. oh, and don't forget to smoke up some of the bomb west coast herb ;)

great ideas from everyone.

You don't need a car. They run tour buses out there.

The suggestion is excellent. On the tour, they take you down to where the big diversion pipes are...you can drive two school buses, side by side through one. That's a big ass pipe.

If it's still there, the "Star Trek Experience" at the Las Vegas Hilton is something else.

And, eat a lot. The best food deals are often found in the off hours, like steak and eggs, $1.99. 12 M - 6AM. And there are some great buffets.

Edit: Be careful if you bring dope. The laws are lots stricter than California. I don't think they're out to get you, but if you get popped, the consequences can be pretty serious.

I guess it depends on what you like. I was fascinated. It is to some extent, propaganda for the Federal agencies that build and run dam projects. Those guys look kind of like park rangers, but they're not.

Did they tell you the story about the poor bastard who fell into the wet cement? They spent a bunch of time fishing him out. Not because there was any hope of saving him, but because if the cement hardened around him, his body would decay and leave a great big void in the cement, weakening the dam.

Go to the Buffet at the Rio the absolute best buffet I have ever been to and I have been to a lot!

and a second on the star trek show. i am not a fan, but still enjoyed it.

Those whorehouses

They're not in Vegas, they're out in the middle of nowhere. They can't, by law, be in any county that has a major city. They make it easy, though. They run buses.

I came upon one of those places, driving through the desert, many years ago. I toyed with the idea of going in and getting my crank yanked. I was between girlfriends.

Sat there for about ten minutes...naahhh. Not me.
