Hey all
Ive got 1 female plant growing outdoors. Id say its a few weeks away from being ready for harvest as the buds are semi developed (white hairs still). Its only my second time growing but im concerned that with the ammount of people who know about it it will be ripped.

I can move it indoors but ive got 0 idea about indoor setups. Since its relativly close to harvest id just buy some lights and yeah that should be it right?

What type of lights do i use UV lights?
How far away do i put the lights from the plant?
Do they need to be above the plant or can it be from the side aswell?
What strength lights do i need and howmuch would they cost ($AUD)

All information appreciated thanks :)

First off, how big is that plant?

Second, I have no idea how much a light is going to cost you where you live. But you have a couple of options. Fluoro's, metal halides and HPS lamps. It's not just a matter of hanging a light on top of the plant, btw. You also need adequate ventilation, equipment to mask the odor and so on. I'd think it over if I were you. It's not something you rush into.

Third, if the buds don't look fully developed yet, I'd say you might have more than 2 weeks. Just don't be impatient... it can really seem like a long time to wait for it to mature, and I was personally shocked when I first discovered how long it can be.

Oh, and also, in the future, I'd avoid telling anyone AT ALL about it, especially those who you are concerned will rip it off. If you don't tell anyone, no one will know. Think about it this way - you're the one growing it and taking all the risk, yet you still couldn't help telling people. Even if you only tell your best friend, think how much more likely it'll be that that friend will tell at least 1 person, if even you couldn't help yourself. No one you tell will have any risk if it gets discovered, so what's the likelihood they'll tell someone? Probably pretty high.

As Blowmonkey said, you may not want to try to move this plant, although I'd highly recommend growing indoors in the future. Just hope it doesn't get ripped off and harvest it outside. The reason is that you'll definitely need a ventilation system and an expensive light to really reap the benefits. if you don't ventilate, you'll have a good chance of growing mold. If you can get these things and research a good setup, then I'd definitely move it inside, though. But don't skimp. Good yields require a proper setup, and there's no way around that.

I wouldn't move any plant from the ground to a pot, and definitely not a plant in flower. Reason being that plants in the ground generally produce far larger root systems than in pots, most of it being very delicate. They tend to stretch horizontally just beneath the surface rather than downwards as in a pot.

Of course, the amount stress you cause the plant while moving it into a pot depends on how big it is. Since yours is already flowering, i'd imagine it's too late, and any attempt would likely bring it close to death.

If you can't leave it outside, then i'd harvest it now.

But if he harvested it now, would it even be worth it?

And I know this might sound stupid but, why not move it to somewhere else outside? Somewhere no one knows about? If you really think it's close to being harvested (which it may not be though), then maybe you can move it, let it finish developing, and harvest it fully. I don't know, but just be careful. Don't want someone to take what you've done.

If there's absolutely no way he can leave it outside, then I think he's gonna end up with the same product no matter what he chooses to do. If tries to move it into a pot, I reckon it'll die, meaning the bud won't develop any further than if he simply harvests it.
