Movies & Drugs Mega Thread vs. take, uh, 2

Its cold and raining. Trips now take place primarly at home - welcome winter. :)

Hah... while the planet earth in person is a wonderful thing when the weather is appropriate they are speaking of the documentary series in case you didn't realze. I definitely second that recommendation, get Planet Earth, Life, documentaries about space etc. these are all incredible in HD while tripping (or sober). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baraka_(film) was a rather interesting film that you may want to check out as well.

slow-mo popcorn was pretty sweet

general slow motion rhubarb, nature things too

Not sure how you've got your TV hooked up, but if you have a way to play them, check out iTunes' selection of video podcasts! Haven't thought of watching them on psychs, but some would probably be interesting...
- Hubblecast HD (many HD episodes speaking about various astrological finds with ultra cool graphics. If you're feeling like you want to think beyond this earth, definitely take a peek.)
- Hidden Universe HD (similar to the Hubblecast, except it's made by NASA)
- TEDTalks HD (this features lots of interesting lectures about some fascinating subjects. Depends what psych your on... hafta be able to focus and be interested in what the person is saying... could spark some interesting thoughts if you're feeling cerebral)

There's plenty more, but those should get you started. I'd recommend searching Google for other podcast ideas, I don't care for the iTunes search interface.

Earth | Time Lapse View from Space, Fly Over | NASA, ISS

Yea, this is AWESOME and EPIC, 5 minutes of time-lapsed footage from orbit, featuring 18 separate clips edited together (these things on their own are NEVER long enough), including cities at night, Aurora Borealis, some major lightning storms, and with some cool original music.

With my VIMEO membership I downloaded the HD video, which plays alot smoother on a local video... you can also loop it if you are tripping so you can extend the experience even more... download it from here:

Lots of other great stuff on Vimeo here and elsewhere: http://vimeo.com/channels/worldhd

thanks everyone for sharing, really good suggestions in this thread! ( Cant wait for 4-aco-dmt to arrive! :D )

Sorry, rule number 1 in the PD rules:

Threads that are social in nature like "Trip Movies" or "What Do you Think are Cool Things to do When Tripping?" belong in Drug Culture. There is a PD Social Thread for gibber-jabber amongst PD'ers, but things that warrant their own thread probably do not belong in PD.

Everyone who thinks it's unfair if we neglected enforcing this rule in the past, apologies about unequal treatment. I posters of such threads in the past were lucky every now and then.

Microcosmos is available in HD on Netflix instant. Amazing stuff, and the HD makes SUCH a difference.

SECOND

Wow, I haven't seen that movie in so long. I was a teen watching it in Britain and I remember this movie as being quite literally one of the most amazing movies I'd ever seen.

I think Mirror Mask is the coolest fucking movie I've ever seen tripping. Samurai Jack, the cartoon show is also a very very good choice. The artwork in that show and the perfect use of color schemes is nothing short of amazing. It's so vast and enveloping, almost drags you right into it. Used to love muting this with some good music playing, it's eerie how well things sync up when you're off your rocker on LSD.

Listen... you must watch "Transcendent Man". It's available on Netflix streaming. Some of the theories may be flawed and always take everything with a grain of salt but... my GOD.

You must be able to focus.

I'm a big fan of Pixar movies when I trip. The color schemes and the artwork that they use appeal to me quite a bit.
Specifically Up, Finding Nemo and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs..

Lol I watched requiem for a dream with my mom yesterday it was awkward... She liked it though but said it was stressful (I seen it before watching it with her).... My sister sent me a text yesterday just to say she was watching dazed and confused :') <3 that's my sister.

Lol double posting but my mom got me all the harold & kumar movies for Christmas....(I didn't even ask for them she just knows me so well lulz) We just watched Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle LOL I forgot how fuckin hilarious this movie is, I was cracking up. The funny thing is I watched this with my mom but she was loling too (her first time seeing it, crazy I know right? She tells me she liked it a lot). Ahhh how much I love stoner movies. This is one of my all time favorites.

NO, I do not watch movies with my mom all the time. I just happened to post about these ones....

I got reallyyyy stoned and watched Enter the Void. Holy shit, blew my fucking mind! Absolutely everything about it, down to the strobe light and techno of the opening credits, was amazing.
