I am a big fan of electronica but nothing sounds as organic and accomplised as an orchestra.

Minimal orchestral music e.g Steve Reich and some Philip Glass is some serious next level shit.

The progression of tone and beauty for me defies comprehension, how these people compose music on such a grand scale with such subtlty but still manage to take you on an all absorbing journey in one piece in my opinion is the defintion of genious

If you have no idea what i am talking about and are sceptical about orchestral music please give Steve Reich -Music for 18 musicians or Philip Glass - Music in 12 parts a listen, you will see what a person with true vision can accomplish on a grand scale

Since you mention soundtracks -- IMO, the film soundtrack to the 1982 "Conan the Barbarian" (Basil Poledouris) has to be heard. Here's a short bit of it on Youtube, with links to other portions:

thats ok for its era but, Jonny Greenwood puts a modern twist to his arrangements

he has doen three films soundtracks, so far. And a few solo arranged pieces for funs sake.

His first soundtrack was for a documentary called "Bodysong"

here is a link to part:

he also did the Soundtrack to the movie "There Will Be Blood"

here is a sample track (also used in "Bodysong")
