For those of you in favor of there being an alcohol subforum on this site (as proposed here), I invite you to use this thread to make posts that you would make in the alcohol forum if we were to start one.

For any posts that you wish to be viewed as their own thread, use the 'Go Advanced' reply option and put the name of the thread you would start in the 'title' section, and all other posts will be like normal replies to those threads. The quote feature will be crucial to keeping this trial organized so that we know what post is in reply to what thread.

Excitotoxicity and oxidative stress from high glutaminergic transmission through calcium channel activation during ethanol withdrawal/rebound result in apoptosis (cell suicide) presenting a host of different symptoms, most notably seizures, brain damage, and neuropathy (nerve damage). This is why calcium-channel-blockers and anti-glutaminergics are clever at halting these symptoms.

Soulspark, I don't think there are enough alcohol threads for it to warrant its own prefix. Most of the threads that are regarding alcohol are either about alcohol withdrawal or mixing it with other substances. Effects, dosing assistance as a few examples are things that are non-existent for alcohol, since its a well known substance with coaching on its use coming mostly from tradition and culture. I'm yet to see a thread about someone asking what a safe dosage for alcohol is, and how to use it properly, or what effects to expect from it. It's to some degree, but to a much lesser extent similar to cigarettes in this respect.

Coffee, maybe some APAP/chamomile tea if slightly hungover, more alcohol if moderately hungover, lay in bed all day if very hungover.

Nope, had my box o' RCs confiscated once, but the cops gave it back a few months later. Luckily they didn't look in my vomity jacket and get my weed (discovered it there like 6 months later, 'twas a treat).

Was hospitalized twice, at ages 18 and 20, didn't drink regularly at the time. Probably wasn't necessary either time, but whatever.

Pretty much every day when I can afford it (sometimes that means taking a month off), though I'll go on voluntary breaks from time to time.

Alone 99% of the time, but that's because I only socialize like 4-6 times a year lately (and I'll often drink then too, but not very much, I tend to overdo it or act regretably if getting proper around others).
 
i want to add that a lot of quality posts were made in this thread. wiggi raised a lot of questions that deserve discussing, i am just not sure they need their own forum.
