Opioids MMT (Methadone Maintenance Treatment) Question

Got a question guys.

I've been struggling with addiction for 5 years now, and finally decided to get MMT. Yesterday was my first day, and I signed up, they RUSHED me through the process, were quite RUDE, and I didn't even get to read any of the papers they made me sign. They said they were in a "hurry".

Then, the doctor told me she was going to dose me at 30mg, and take it from there, and accidenetly wrote 20mg on the paper. So they dosed me 20mg, and when I told them I was supposed to get 30mg, they couldnt change it because the doctor already left!


Anyway, Yesterday was my first day of MMT, and I was still in w/d, so I went out and did opiates. I have a 3 month old child, who kept me up all night, and thus I woke up late today and missed going to the clinic for Day 2. The hours are only 6am-10am, and I'm used to waking up at around 2-3pm.

Two questions:

1) Are they going to take me off MMT for missing a day?
2) Are they going to take me off MMT for taking opiates, since I was in w/d?
 
Both questions really depend on your clinics policies. But I would expect them to be lenient on you for doing opiates, especially since you just started, but then again this is just speculation because each clinics tolerance for understanding that you are a human being varies from clinic to soul sucking clinic.

I am also in MMT, been doing it for over 2 years and have had the luck of having understanding counselors and really a not at all to unpleasant experience.
 
i can only repeat that...ive noticed 30ml/mg is usually starting does then upped every day or 2 by 5-10ml until your stable.Ive been on it off and on 9yrs and each time i was fairly thrown off because of opiate use-id missed appointmets etc...but that was fine,more so if i called before or even later and just explained.
I doubt VERY much youll be taken off for using since you havnt found your maintanince amount yet-im shocked this wasnt explained to you :(..i was told id be expected to use as little as i could as my methadone doseage went up till i felt no physical need for heroin-THEN id be off if i used lol
for missing a day,just explain mate...hope you let me know how things go
 
Well, without going into too much detail, I pretty much told them to fuck off.

They under dosed me, over charged me, treated me like a junky, and ALL told me CONFLICTING information.

I was told I could go back, but I refused. Its an hour long drive, and I'm not dealing with their negativity. If I'm going to recover, I need to be around helpful individuals, not assholes on a power trip who are under qualified for their jobs.

I'm waiting for this clinic to open up on June 29th, 5 miles from my house. The staff has ALREADY been EXTREMELY nice, and VERY informative. They put me on a list, and even told me they have heard so many bad experiences from the clinic I went to .

I can wait till the 29th, and just stick w/ oxy until then :)
 
I hope you have a better experience with the other clinic.

Around here you don't get kicked off for using, but they slash your dose in half for that day or maybe a couple days. I dunno since I don't go there, but I have a lot of friends who do and they still use and piss dirty and don't get kicked out. And they definitely won't kick you out for missing a day.
 
when i first started in the MMT i first started with 16 pills(witch contains 2.5 mg\pill) and i was being sick then they raised me to 20,again feeling sick,then they increased the dose to 22 pills witch i was feeling sick a little bit and now i'm at 24 pills(2.5 mg\pill) and it just gets me by) withch in mg of methadone means 60 mg and it's kinda ok right now
u need to fing a dose that it will make u not sick and just remember u won't be on MMT forever and u will need to taper the pills so try to find the right dose to not feel sick and the after a period of time try to taper the pills 2 pills/month
that's from my experience although i'm still on 60 mg and the next year i'm gonna begin to taper the pills becouse i don't wanna be on methadone forever

Ugh- I'm actually debating wether or not to go today. They called me yesterday, but at like 6am. Its 6am now, and I've only gotten like an hour of sleep (sleeping trouble).

I know for sure when the new clinic opens I'm going, that I know for sure, at least.
 
I'd look at Suboxone if I were you. I was never on MMT but I just hear bad things about it. Like the withdrawals are way worse than just coming straight off heroin. Go to Suboxone.com and find a doctor near you. I found one who took insurance, and I only had to see once a month, go in there talk for 10-15 minutes and walk out with a script for 90 8mg pills (3 a day). Never piss tested me either.
 
Around here, they do not kick you off MMT for using drugs. Even opiates. You will lose your take homes, but its really hard to get straight dropped from the program (unless you stop paying).

Opiates are the worst to fail for. If you fail for benzos or coke or osmething you get a warning before you lose your takehomes.

You would have been fine using H the first week or 2 on the MMT program..noone is held at 30mg meth lol other wise you woudln't be goin there.

At my clinic, you can miss a dya, and it's all good 100% nothing bad happens (but you will be drug tested the next day). You miss 2 days and they cut your dose in half and work you back up to avoid overdose. 3 days and you are put on a 14 detox and dropped.



And yeah, bupe is a good route for soem people, but I know for me, it was more of a tool to just bridge the gap between h binges. meth really got me clean. the structure of going everday is good.

My clinic is literally less lthan 3 mi away though.

There are people who have literally NEVER pissed clean in almost a year. They WANT to get kicked out becuase it's the only way to get into the other clinic around here (being referred becaues you were dropped).
 
My clinic understands that the 30 they start u at isnt jack shit for most addicts so they dont care if u keep using for the first few weeks till ur dose is high enough to actually help u. as far as missing days go most wont kick u off, but if u miss 3 days they start u back at 30 even if u were up to 100. U might wanna ask them about there rules as it varies alot from clinic to clinic
 
I started methadone in a hospital and got up to 150 in 3 days, they went up 50mg a day, but that's fucking unheard of. When I started at a new clinic after 2 weeks of no methadone, they started me at 20mg, even though it was documented that i'd been on 150! That clinic never put above 135mg..I've been on methadone for over a year, Im back at 150mg now. At this clinic, you can't miss more than 3 doses, then you're kicked out. I personally have not passed a single drug test. As long as it's only for heroin, they jus keep bumping me up, which sounds retarted and irresponsible i know, but it's actually starting to make sense now. On this dose, I hardly even think about dope, the craving is definitely calming down. I can say this is at least the most indifferent I've ever felt about dope, which for me is saying a lot. I was at a "pay" clinic for 9 months, now I'm at a "free" clinic ( although I still pay $50 a week bc I have a job). It's just that they accept ppl on northstar, which in texas is sort of like insurance for ppl that are indigent, the pay clinics do not, everybody has to pay out of pocket. The pay clinics treat you like gold, whereas the free clinics treat you like a fucking number...Which I'm sure is how they think of us. Literally, I'm number 585...
 
Forgot to mention, failing drug test for opiates means that I'm not eligable for any extra take-homes. Just the regular sunday dose bc they're closed...But I'm sure that differs depending on what clinic you attend.

Suboxone is garbage in my opinion. I was on it, and couldn't stand it. Never helped w/ cravings, made me feel like shit, at doses from 2mg-8mg per day.

Wasnt for me, to each their own, ya know?

My stint w/ the clinic is going well so far, better than I though it would. I just need them to up me, Monday I get 30mg, then Tuesday 40mg, Wednesday 50mg, and hopefully I wont need to go to high.

I really want the lowest dose possible to maintain me. I'm hoping 50-80 will hold me well

I've only been to the one clinic and they're very nice. I'd probably wind up firebombing the place if they treated me as you described. Hopefully the new place is better - June 29th is soon, and not having to travel an hour each way every day is a huge plus on its own.

I agree with you man about buprenorphine being garbage... I mean it works well for people with mild-moderate addictions but for people who have tried to get and stay clean and have been through tons of withdrawals, only to relapse each time 2-3 weeks into sobriety, methadone is a much better option.

Oh, and also to the people who say that you gain weight/nod out all day/get lazy on methadone, guess what. I'm on 160mg/day but I've lost 35lbs so far since being on methadone since I'm no longer an opioid-addicted depressed mess. Also, I exercise/workout in the evenings now, something I never did pre-MMT because of the opioid addiction and the depression that came along with the opioid addiction. So methadone has been MORE than helpful to get me not only clean but HEALTHY and HAPPY.

And this is on 160mg day too, mind you. Note that pre-MMT I had a huge habit though and at my worst my tolerance was 20-30x 100mg morphine sulphate (MSContin) orally a day. So yeah, I kinda need the 160mg dose on MMT but I barely get high/a buzz nor do I want to get high/a buzz from my dose. I just prefer and enjoy the day-to-day stability/feeling completely normal day-to-day that methadone maintenance provides.

MMT has really been not only a life-saver but a life-enhancer. At this point I really don't mind being on methadone for the rest of my life considering how much progress I've made so far in terms of improving my life; I've never felt this stable and this healthy since 2004-2005 before I started using opioids. MMT for the win.
 
Splenda that was well said. I am on day ONE of my MMT. I took my first dose this morning of 30mg. I already feel like I have been freed of my addiction and this is my first day. No more drug seeking and spending countless dollars on drugs. I too am looking forward to the stability MMT is going to bring me. No more depressed addicted mess I will be.
 
Damn kicked off for using? My girl hasn't pissed clean once and gets her 90mls everyday no problem, no dose cut or nothing.

I'm seriously considering trying to get on MMT but I have no money or insurance. Right now I live in Pittsburgh (just got here a few weeks ago), and I'm trying to find work and get my act together but I'd like to get onto a maintenance program first. Do you guys know if they will work with you until you find a job to pay out of pocket? Like will they discount what you have to pay or something? I've never tried meth, only subs and they rly don't work as many others have pointed out (for me anyway). Thanks for the responses.

Some places might have a sliding payment scale, meaning the price you pay at MMT is based on your wages earned. You'll just have to call around, explain your situation, and find a place that will work with you.
