I'm being put on suboxone to replace Opana for pain. What were to happen if I supplement it some norco's? I think my Dr is being sneaking and trying to wean me off my opiates.

Your not going to feel norcos after taking either suboxone or opana. Opana makes your tolerance sky rocket and suboxone is Gonna block those norcos anyways

dont do it! The nalaxone in the suboxone will make you go into an acute withdrawal if you take it with hydrocodone/norcos.....nalaxone is an opioid antogonist and will make you feel horrible if you take those two together.

Hope you didnt mix em....LMK

Thank u. The Drs told me this but I don't believe a word they say. I was also told if I split up an Opana stop sign it would no longer work. Haha. What eva Doc.

No. I didn't mix them. I don't have them yet. I have my addiction med interview today at 1 pm. I will be drug tested. I feasted on hand fills of norco's and took my last dose of Opana yesterday. I also took eight 10/325 this morning so I doubt they will writ a script for me today as u have to be in WD to get them.

I took two subs yesterday for the first time (Monday) before that I took norco's Thursday, Friday and Saturday I took methadone. Sunday nothing. Monday suboxone at around 2 PM and around 8 PM. Today is Tuesday. What time today can I take norco's and feel them? Should I wait until tomorrow? Remember, I only took two yesterday @
2-0.5MG whatever that means. I haven't taken subs in over a year.

Tuesday I have not taken anything yet..

If you mixed them you didn't feel then. Try looking up some pharmacology before you look into it and know what the purpose of Suboxone is.

even after 24 hours and only one days use? :(

I'm guessing I have to wait to start feeling sick to take Norco after yesterday's bupe. It's been 18 hours + and I'm starting to feel tired and achy and all over yucky. I would hate to waste it. Or worse. Get a acute withdrawals ! :-(

i'll be the guinea pig. took bube 18 hours ago.& now i will be taking 50 mgs hydro

now i will ingest five 10-325 norco's 18 hours later. I have been reading all day trying to figure out if i will get sick or just waste my pills.. sounds like no one out there knows anything.
so, i will find out for myself.
from what i know.. if i take norco first without going thru wd's and then take bupe. i will get sick.
if i take bupe first then take norco too soon, i will not feel euphoric effects.
i have only taken the bupe one day. 2 mgs once at 2 pm and once around 7:30 pm. it is now 1:37 pm.

i'll check in an hour.

wish me luck.

Buprenorphine typically has around a 36 hour half life.
While taking it, other opiates don't work because bupe has such a strong affinity to opiate receptors that it blocks all other opiates from getting in.

Hey, just a heads up you need to just update your other thread. You can't make a whole new thread about the same topic.

you might. it depends on your tolerance. bupe does a crappy job of blocking opiates in my body most of the time.

rhun is right. It is not the naloxone that would make the norcos not work -it is the buprenorphine. Bupe has such a high level of attraction to the opioid receptors that once it gets on them, other opioids cannot replace it. Therefore, taking norco AFTER suboxone will do absolutely nothing -the norco will give no effects. However, if you take the norcos first and THEN some suboxone, you will go into precipitated withdrawals because the buprenorphine will snatch the norco right off your receptors and replace it. This will instantly take away any euphoria and make you feel rather crappy.

PS- Naloxone is ONLY put inside suboxone to deter people from IVing it. The funny part is that it does not even work because bupe will always beat it in a race for the receptors (as bupe has a much higher affinity for the receptors) AND 2 mg of nalxone is not enough to do ANYTHING -especially when there is 8 mg of buprenorphine. So, do not take norcos right after or right before suboxone. If you want to take norcos, then wait at least 48 hours after your last suboxone dose, just to be safe.

PSS- The only opioids that can be sometimes successfully mixed with suboxone are methadone and tramadol. And tramadol is only a quasi-opioid. But be careful with the methadone! Furthermore, what most people don't know is that is a strong opioid (morphine, fentanyl, etc.) is titrated diligently against a person's suboxone dose, then eventually the person will start to feel the effects of the other opioids. However, this is usually only done in a hospital under medical supervision because it could result in fatal repiratory depression is done incorrectly. Having said this, norcos (hydrocodone pills) are rather weak and will not be able to over-power suboxone no matter how many you take -you would get liver poisoning from the tylenol first!
