ok, so today i was giving myself a shot of the gold ol heroin and i stuck the needle in, drew back.. blood rushed in.. so i continued and pushed the shot in.. it didn't burn of anything but when i took the needle out there was a big bump on my arm.. i started rubbing it and the bump went down quickly and right now there's no visible bump and no visible bruise.. but when i touch it it hurts really bad.. there's no burning sensation in my arm or anything.. and there was no burning sensation when i shot it.. so did i miss? or did i collapse a vein? or did i blow the vein? not sure what happend.. will i be alright? I did feel the shot although i dont think i felt it like i should have.. i dont shoot very often so i'm not actually sure if i should have felt the shot more or not.

And also, say I had a shot and drew the blood back and only shot half of the shot.. and there was still blood in the syringe after i shot half the shot and saved it for 30 mins later.. and if the blood looked clumpy like it clotted would it be harmful to inject 30 mins later into my blood stream? or does blood clot in 30 mins? or does it clot if its inside the heroin liquid also and hasn't been exposed to air? although water does have air in it doesn't it.

^ lolwhat....

if the spot grows and gets worse over the next day or so, go straight to the doctor. do not wait too long it will get bad.

there are lots of threads on blood clotting in syringes. i havent ever waited with my shot so i would not personally know. read up before posting.

it appears(sounds) as if you missed and it absorbed subcutaneously. the lump disappears as the solution absorbs, leaving the area sore and tender. we're talking street heroin here so there's going to be impurities which amplify the tenderness and pain.

we can't pinpoint whether you punctured the vein and it leaked, whether you pulled out of the vein, etc. you would have noticed the bubble forming as you were injecting, at least you should have if you weren't shooting deep, which is when you should have stopped. saying that i've missed shots which initially were painless and weren't visible.

absolutely do not go injecting it with blood clot in it. the blood will have clotted in that time. and yes water is 2 parts hydrogen 1 part oxygen.

injecting any foreign insoluble object into your blood stream has to stop somewhere; veins, lungs (pulmonary embolism), arteries. see pulmonary embolism

please have a read through the IV complications thread

thanks for the info guys i really appreciate it.. but to to mod, what if it was just a real small amount of blood that was clotted? could a real small amount be relatively harmless? i can see a large/decent amount being really harmful but im not sure about a really small amount..

Well at least you live up to your name of being a drama queen!

As stated, it's most likely nothing more than a typical missed shot. Run hot (not too hot, comfortable hot) water over the spot and gently massage it for 2 or 3 minutes, do that a few times a day.

If in 2 or 3 days it doesn't seem to be getting better, go to a doctor (or a free clinic if you want to remain anonymous).

But honestly you'll know by this time tomorrow if it's getting better or not.

And also as stated, about 18 threads a week get started with this exact same question and the exact same answers. If you had glanced at the subject titles for the first 2 or 3 pages of threads you would have already found more answers and opinions than you'd know what to do with.

Personally, I like to take a nice, dense selection of opinions (not the stupid, light weight ones but the strong, robust, well-written and slightly sarcastic ones), grind them up with a pill crusher and snort them.

Works great, especially with a beer.

it might or might not be harmless, why risk a serious health concern over something that can be avoided so easily? don't expect me to tell you it's alright to go shooting the clots.

well i was asking because i did it before i posted this.. it was a small amount though.. hopefully it isn't too serious.. what should i look for incase it does affect me? i know that it might be harder to breath if it gets stuck in my lungs.. but wat else?

read the IV thread and the link i directed you to in my previous post, that will give you an idea.

the insoluble particulates have to accumulate somewhere in your body.
