Harm Reduction minimizing the risks of injecting into the feet

I used to shoot into my feet when I first started. I soon realized the track marks on the arms are better than a missed shot in the foot. I had a missed shot that ripped at the skin every time I walked, I considered cutting it open.

Can you not find any veins, or trying to hide usage?

Lifting your foot in the air won't really help.. there are two main risks with using your feet, infection and blood clots. The former is because the blood supply to your feet is not as good, so infection can take hold more easily, and the latter is related to the way you blood flows from your feet back up your legs. Being meticulous about hygiene, using a micron filter, bacteriostatic water, fresh needle etc will help. Blood clots such as a DVT are not as likely as they are with using your groin, but they can occur. There is not much that can be done to reduce the risk, but not keeping your legs still for extended periods can help.

It is good that you are rotating your sites, but do bear in mind that the feet is risky. Have you had a look at a vein map?

yeah feet are a last resort ... heating a cloth and putting it there to get veins to stick out so u have n easier time not missing maybe i dunno

I have tried shooting into my feet/legs/and ankles in the past for the purpose of hiding my drug use. I honestly have to say that if I ever got to the point where I had to resort to using those spots, I would switch to another ROA, and I'm a hard-core needle fiend, though I hate to say it.

You should really try plugging IMO. I was never a believer in rectal administration until I tried it, and it is very effective. Everyone loves a rush, but digging around in your feet, and risking blood clots and infections is really, REALLY not worth it.

Yeah, it's a shitty thing when your good veins start to go. You're left with a choice.. either go through all the shit that comes with fixing in more creative places..find a new ROA, or get clean. I know for me, (and a lot of us).. the third one isn't an option for a while, and even the second choice is a stretch. Most of us will poke and prod our bodies until we're nothing more than a human pin cushion. I know I was that way. I mean.. instead of switching ROA's or getting straight..I started fixing in my neck.. it's a real testement to just how bad you can get turned out on the needle. It's tough man. You only have so many veins, and even less that are easy and safe to IV in. Your best bet is to a.) obviously never get into fixing, or b.) try and use the best technique and precautions to keep your strong veins lasting as long as possible. Because, once you start having to hit rolling veins in your feet and other shitty places, the addiction becomes a lot shittier. No more easy hitting on the go. You start to have to sit in bathrooms for 40 minutes before you register. I personally wish I would have just gotten clean before I reached that point..the scars on my neck are a constant reminder of that fact.

I know you say the veins on your arms are collapsed but are you 100% sure that they are? i mean i've had veins stop working for long periods of time, and other times i've just have them not work for a couple days. I can remember specific times when i was an idiot and used the same works over and over and over until it was like a spoon and scared the shit out of myself. On day after trying to hit the 1 of 3 easy rotation spots i had, i said fuck it i mine as well try to hit my old favorite spot ( the big perfect ones on the inside of the elbow where Dr's commonly take blood from. SNAP CRUNCH, but blood sprayed into the needle. I remember the feeling of sucess not to rub it in, but my point being maby try another spot you've considerd finished for a long time now and try to register. As sick as it sounds this is making me want to get high again, i gotta stop reading dope threads on here. Anyway i figured id share that maby it may help. and i figured fuck atleast try before you risk all that and get a beat rush anyway, well not bad but it takes alot longer and isnt nearly as intense the one time i tried in my foot

Good luck,
-B

No idea about 'risks' and saftey re: clots but I was mostly a foot, ankle injector to hide them (Hell I actually made my own injectible valium from valium powder before, and fortunately I injected those into my feet b/c I f'ed up the formula and one on the chemicals used in the forumal is like a weak acid, and I f'ed up the forumal so still have a burn mark over one vein in each foot like 2 YEARS later. Think I woudla eased off as soon as I started feeling the acid sting, huh? Well I wasn't quite as 'stable' back then as I am nowadays lol.

Anyway I like injecting into the feet and ankles. When I IV I no longer and looking for an IV rush, I fell out once and it scared the shit out of me and I also hurt my head (the least of my problems, the close OD was the scary thing) so I could care less if I dont' get a 'rush' b/c it's going in my foot and not in my jugular or some artery close to my heart. The veins in my feet are BIG, in one foot in particuarl, and I got some good one's around my ankles too. The only problem, per se, is the odd position I find myself putting myself in trying to get tied off and also inject while holding my foot in a good positioin sitting on my bed or something. Hell I think I"m gonna see if I have ny needles now b/c of the memories this post brings back and wife just left for work.

Go Feet!!!!

Yeah feet! Good vein, used alcohol swab so not understanding risk issue around that. Didn't know about the blook clot blood flow thing till it was 'too late' so to speak... but not the first time so. But I got good veins, nurses always tell me that. So they are good in my feet and ankles too. I got a friggin fat huge one on the top of one of my feet, it seems like it's 1/3 inch high off my foot lol. Ironically I coudln't that one as I think it's next to some other shit like a tendon or something but got a smalll one on my ankle first try an'd doesn't 'look' like a good one.

And it beats a foot massage any day.....
Peace,
Titus

In my opinion no, it will not make any difference. Feet should be avoided. For all the obvious reason not to mention feet are dirty as fuck.

@@phatass yeah that is normal.. the dope has to travel much further and it has branched off into multiple different vein systems so is hitting you at a slower rate/more spread out over time/causing diminishing rush. The high should essentially be the same.

Yeah I've found it makes a little difference how fast the rush hits depending on where you fix. The first few times I started doing it in my neck..I was like, fuck. Hah. It hits you pretty damn fast.

Do you hit your neck your self or someone does it for you.

Do you look in a mirror or something? I am just curious the logistics of it.

maybe coz circulation is slower, hits slower, more drawn out but lower peak of a rush? i dunnno im just hypothesizing

Yea spot on.

This is also why feet are so risky - poor circulation, far more chance of infection/abscess..

Would you consider switching to something like plugging phatass? Trust me this is only going to get worse - more and more dangerous..

I have to look in a mirror. So, I would carry around like a little pocket sized one so I could fix on the go. This was when I was really strung out though and my veins were seriously shot. Having been mostly clean for a while, some of my veins have come back, but it wouldn't take long to have to start popping off in my neck again. The thee day relapse I was on last week I was fine fixing in my wrists. I even found a really deep vein in my bicep that worked well.

Maybe YOUR feet. But in general HANDS are the area's of the body where germs are b/c our hands are constantly touching shit that other people touch with their hands... like their dicks and asses in the bathroom and doorknobs, etc....

Viruses get spread from not washing hands... not from not washing feet. And regardless of where your injecting you should be using an alcohol swab like nurses do. That takes the germs off the surface of the skin so a tiny germ(s) don't get pushed below the skins surface (be in IV, SC, or IM) and cause infection.

Think my general understanding there is correct, could be wrong though as I often am.
