Is this worthwhile? What experiences do you have with it? What tips would you give someone who's going to try oral THC for the first time?

A few years back I was at a party and I don't remember how it got this way, but I had some really wet bud in my pocket and I was telling this dude about it and I thought the bud was a loss anyway so I gave it to him to try to make it smokeable and he wrapped it in a paper towel and put it in the microwave for like 10-15 seconds (don't quote me on that).

When it came out, you could see all the water that the paper towel had absorbed and I smoked a bowl with the dude and everything seemed fine to me. I don't know of any other reason to microwave bud. If your making edibles, what's wrong with the toaster oven?

You can definitely microwave cannabis into oil effectively. I have no experience with decarbing in a microwave but I've read it's possible. Sounds risky, though. I microwave ground, decarbed weed into coconut oil (use butter or lard if you can't get it) with six 30 second bursts. Do you not have access to an oven?

This guy uses a microwave to decarb:

3 grams at a time, 1:30 to 2:00 minutes. Grind it up first. I don't know if I'd trust a microwave, the temperature fluctuations can be extreme. But it's worth a shot if you have no other options.

Just saw your last post. Edibles WILL stink up the house so if odor is an issue I don't know that edibles are the solution. I've successfully made stealth firecrackers, however. You might want to look into that. They taste like shit, though.

I'm not sure how well a microwave will work to make edibles... Definitely don't leave it on unattended, if you're microwaving oil or butter it'll start flying all over the place in no time x).

Since you mentioned shared accommodation I'm assuming you are at university and don't want to get caught making edibles in the shared kitchen... Instead of using the microwave to make edibles which may or may not be very effective, I'd recommend making cannabis milk instead! Normally I put a 50:50 mix of full-fat milk and water on the hob (about 0.5L of each) and bring it to a boil, decarboxylated weed goes in and you let it sit in there occasionally stirring for about 30-45 minutes. You can add a clump of butter or some cream to add extra fat for the weed to dissolve in. Since smell is an issue in common areas for you I'd suggest to get a cheap kettle and do it in your room instead... Towel the door, burn some incense, keep the kettle on the window sill with window open, etc to reduce suspicious if you are really worried... The kettle wouldn't hold a constant simmer like the hob, but I think you can still get it to work. The heat just serves to facilitate the THC dissolving into the fat, instead of simmering just turn the kettle on to bring it to a boil. Stir the contents for like 5 minutes and switch the kettle back on to knock the temperature up again. Do that for 30-45mins, strain out the weed and drink the liquid!

Also for a first timer, I'd recommend not to take too much your first go with edibles! The high is quite different from smoking. It takes a while to fully kick in but it lasts a long time, overdosing on edibles can leave you feeling quite miserable for a long time if you're not comfortable being really high. I normally chuck in 0.3-0.5g of weed (very high quality) for mild to medium strength kind of high.

The milk thing definitely works and is a good idea. Stealth decarbing is still your biggest hurdle, though.

It definitely works. To compare effectiveness, I find .2 - .4 grams using the method mentioned in my earlier post will give you a strong experience. Using 30 second bursts with 30 second rests in between prevents burning and splatter. I find using soy lecithin vastly improves the product.

when i feel lazy i just put some finely grinded bud and a two spoons of butter in a microwavable dish for a minute. put the weed and butter on a toast. get fucked for hours. be aware it will stink up your kitchen.

Thanks Doldrugs. I'm used to more powerful psychedelic substances, but I've learned to respect weed nonetheless so I will indeed start low. Not actually on campus though.
