This is my first post so please bear with me... I may be in the wrong place...

Ok, my kitten has done a significant amount of research and can't answer this seemingly simple question with anything other than "b/c a glucose or oil based cut would desolve along with the Meth.a". Frustrating.

Instead of doing an acetone wash to purify adulturated meth.a, why couldn't swim just extract the pure stuff by desolving it in distilled water, evaporating it, then recrystalizing?!

Also, if acetone & meth.a hydrochloride are both polar then why isn't meth.a soluble in the acetone as well?! (This isn't important, just don't get it.)

Lastly, is it crucial to recrystalize? Or could swim just Evap, scrape, & smoke?
 
Impurities dissolve in water so it won't help. Plus you would need to let it crystallize otherwise it means its still wet.

I'm no good with chem but I'm pretty sure that's the reason meth doesn't dissolve in acetone. This is my guess based on opposites attract with magnets lol.
 
not sure why acetone doesn't dissolve MA. wondered that too but let's face it, chemistry is not as obvious as some of these terms (and we are using far too few to be useful, speaking for myself at least).

acetone wash supposedly works but i've never been able to get the shit dry enough, probably cuz i'm so damn sloppy at everything, even when on the stuff. from what i've read elsewhere one doesn't need a re-X, that's just for getting it to look pretty enough for someone to buy it (not a good idea. enhancement charges apply when crank gets beyond 88% pure or some such shit). wish i could get that acetone trick right myself, mine is wicked durtee...
 
Cleaning with acetone, make sure you have anhydrous acetone otherwise it will have water in it witch dissolves the MA. You need a dropper like a clear eyes bottle and a coffee filter. Just slowly drip on the meth sitting on the filter paper. Allow to dry before consuming. We usually do this with a hair drier
 
here's a tip i learned a while back when doing my a-washes: yes obviously handbook of drug purification 101 chapter 1 and only 1 says that you need your acetone to be anhydrous for it to do its job, and it's job is to dissolve everything there is to dissolve in that gear in there while not taking any of the good stuff with it, which water will do, because it disolves meth, duh, etc.

BUT WHAT I DIDN"T KNOW til a little later was that meth is hygroscopic (absorbs ambient moisture from atmosphere) and this will wash away some of your good stuff in with the 'tone, because above all else 'tone dissolves water itself. And if your gear is more on the homemade side of the crystalline spectrum (as in, its a powder with some kind of notable COLOR to it that maybe even feels a bit like sticky poweder instread of dry powder you expect it'd be) then it likely has even more hygroscopic impurities in it, like lye and ammonium nitrate, which are taking in more water to instantly despoil the anhydrosity of your tone. So step 2 is to dry out your speed (in a microwave, on a safe plate, for 20 -30seconds I reckon, maybe a coffee filter over it if you're worried it'll somehow pop like popcorn and the shit'll go flying everywhere), followed by sticking it in an airtight bag or whatever and let it cool first. THEN run your tone wash. On dirty old shit this will be a game changer/

I still don't know why MA don't dissolve in 'tone yet neither.
 
I knew a guy who used to:
-Tip his gear into a shot glass;
-Wash it with acetone;
-Allow acetone to dry; and,
-Smoke away.

I asked him how it could remove any impurities without running it through a filter (or some other similar process) to which he replied he was sure his method worked, claiming he could taste/smell the difference. I'm fairly sure he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, on occasion he would even go to the point of criticising others for not washing their gear - bit of a jerk really.
