Opioids Methadone - need advice on first time methadone WD (cold turkey)

Hello, so I have been through a moderate to heavy IV heroin withdrawal once, and a moderate to heavy Fentynal withdrawal twice now. I will soon be having to go cold turkey on 75mg of methadone. And don't know what to expect. The reason being, is due to incarceration for anyone wondering. I'm currently on 75mg of methadone and have been for 3 months. What is it going to be like? How difficult will it be? And how long is going to last? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Please and thank you. 🖤
 
Does your state not offer bupe or methadone when imprisoned and dependent? I’m guessing not.

75 mg will be extremely painful. I don’t think it will be worse than the withdrawals you described other than longer lasting. I would taper down as much as possible before you go in. The taper will also be painful but at least you’ll be in the comfort of home.

I hope everything goes as easy as possible for you and let us know how things progress if you can.
 
It won't be nice, OP. The only positive thing here is that you haven't been on it for too long, but it will be hard and it won't be over in a couple weeks,
Mdne wds last forever.
Privating prisoners from their medication is torture.

Damn I was hoping you'd say that 75mg WON'T be that bad lol. Like I've had friends at the clinic, one guy was on 150mg a day of Methadone, that's twice my dose! Now I can imagine how rough it would be for him... But for me?
 
How long do you have until you have to turn yourself in? I've been on methadone a few times and the withdrawal is worse than opiates imo. Methadone is a long acting opiate, so it takes long to detox from. If you were on fent you would be good after let's say 5-7 days. Methadone withdrawal can last for weeks. If I was you I'd call and see if you can get methadone will inside. I would also ask your clinic as well as getting any paper work you could that might enable you to get methadone on the inside. If not I would try to taper down like everyone is suggesting or honestly get back on dope and detox off dope depending upon how long you have until you go in. In my experience methadone withdrawal hits about 12 hours after last missed dose and it often leads you to have extremely bad emotional drops On top of the other withdrawal symptoms.
