Im really worried about my mental health since i started to use meth now and then, My physica well-being is good working and studying and doeing what has toe be done.

What really stresses me out is anxiety(mostly social), mood swings, and aggressive thoughts that lately don't at all subside or pass when going through long term sobriety.

Im really stressin about why im still having these side effects even when they are not suppose to be pressent at all, im worried I've done permanent mental damage from recreational use.

Is this normal? Wil it pass? Can i have the same mindset as before using?

Hey there Music_Guy! Welcome to Bluelight and thank you for posting in the Mental Health forum! So, from what I read you're having some prettt fnarly anxiety and emotonal disregulation? That's the hallmark of methamphetamine use/comedown/withdrawal.

As as far as any permanent neurological or mental damage we'd need some more information to base an opinion on. Even then I'm no doctor! If you feel truly loose up too then seek medical help.

Whats your definition of "now and again"? How much do you use on average when you do use? What's your route of administration? How long have you used in total? Things like this can really help shed light on your situation.

Thanks for your reply.
By now and again i meant that i woud use about once every 2 weeks, around 2 grams each time which i think is way to much.

As for my preferred ROA i like to mix it up, ive treid Iving 3 times in the past but wouldn't feel the urge to chase that rush at all. Have to say smoking to be my most used route.

Its been around 2 years of using and im 20 atm, im not someone who like binging for more than 2 days at most ever since that would be hard to cope with when coming down and having to work.

As for my question again is what im experiencing in terms of my mental health at a big risk? Im scared of permanent damage that wil be present for the rest of my life.

Any input is appreciated.

if you manage to dodge addiction and keep your use under control, mental health can ( no guarantees, it varies person to person) remain stable.

You can do permanent mental damage from using too much meth for too long. After heavy usage (daily usage, usually increasing in dosage over a few weeks) it can take months to feel normal again.

The mood swings you describe are pretty typical for meth users, anxiety is pretty much unavoidable when your using a stimulant like meth.

the best thing to do if your concerned is go sober until you feel "normal" again. Its possible that you aren't giving your body long enough to recover from your binges.

its unlikely you have done permanent damage to your mental health.

Give it a good, super-healthy, 12 months to get most of your thinking back.

As for addiction and depression, that's going to have to rely on some kickass therapy and motivation/willpower on your part. I'd guess that they'd offer medication too, which if it increases the chance of staying off of meth, sounds fine.

Lots of work is ahead if you recover. It's tough, painful.
