Mescaline analogues

I have read of Nichols synthesized escaline and other mescaline analogues but does anybody have any in depth info on these?

Mescaline has a number of analogs, featuring the methoxy groups altered to include thio groups or to be extended. Examples include, but are not limited to, isomescaline, thiomescaline, escaline, thioescaline, proscaline, isoproscaline, buscaline, thiobuscaline, thioisomescaline, phenescaline, symbescaline, asymbescaline, thioasymbescaline, allylescaline, methallylescaline, metaescaline, and thiometaescaline.

The amphetamine homologue, TMA, 3,4,5-trimethoxyamphetamine, should be listed here as well.

I got that from wikipedia. are there other names for these compounds? is not MDPEA a mescaline analogue?

furthermore what are your experiences with these analogues
 
MDPEA isn't. It doesn't have the 3,4,5 substitution pattern. It's MDA, without the a-methyl group.
 
I've used TMA-6 at a ++ dose (don't remember off hand what that was.) It has a long duration and, not surprisingly, feels like a cross between mescaline and a DOx. Pure fun: euphoric, stimulating, and entactogenic, with laughs coming easily and feeling like they're relieving deep tension. I only noticed a slight alteration of my visual field. I have no idea how it might behave at higher doses. It was probably the most purely fun drug I've used that's also classified as a 5ht hallucinogen (more so than aMT.)
 
Lophophine (3-methoxy-4,5-methylenedioxyPEA) is the analogue where two of the methoxy groups have been replaced by a methylenedioxy group and is reckoned to be quite unusual in it's effects at lower doses (150-300mg), becoming more mescaline-like at higher, mescaline like doses (350mg+). At lower doses, I can imagine it would have effects not dissimilar to the alpha-methylated (amphetamine) compound, MMDA, which is quite unique among all of the psychedelic amphetamines. I found that at around the 150mg mark, MMDA was totally unlike anything I'd had before, the closest description being some sort of much less stimulating (actually sedating as I fell asleep between the 30-60 min mark after ingestion, first time), more internally engrossing version of MDA, but even that is only a slight passing resemblance

TMA-2 certainly sounds intriguing... i'd like to give it a spin in the near future. i would expect it to be DOx-like in character.
 
AL (4-allyloxy-3,5-DMPEA) sounds ok, but I bet the 'best' is the "TFM" version of mescaline. In other words.....4-trifluoromethoxy-3,5-DMPEA. I bet this is a gem...perhaps of low potency...but will be a clean, wonderful trip.
 
3C-AL ftw! no wait, 4-allylthio-3,5-dimethoxyamphetamine!

Shulgins reports kinda sell short tma, 3c-e and al. As for DOET, it almost seems he didn't report the proper dose to avoid having to explain the anomaly! (DOM ~3-4mg, DOET >10mg, DOPR ~2.5mg, wierd!)

I'd love to try their thio-analogues : 4-TM and 4-TE ! Metaescaline seems to be worthwile, too .
 
mescaline without an oxygen molecule? With the non descriptive name, I'd assume it's 3,4,5 trimethyl-PEA.

But who knows, it could be 3 methyl-4,5-dimethoxy-PEA, or any combo of two methoxy's and one methyl
 
Yep^ I bet you're right. It makes more sense to remove the oxygen from the 4 position than anywhere else. I don't think a 3,4,5 trimethyl-PEA would be very interestesting.
 
would be interested in the ethyl and propyl analogs of desoxy, and the corresponding amphetamines. the tricky synth is probably the reason there are'nt more of these. of the easy to synth ones 3C-AL = epic win!

Now another question- which phenethylamine in PiHKAL is the closest relative to mescaline itself? Excuse me for asking things I could probably find out in a tick; its just the thinking part, I'm not up for it today.
 
Had to dig up an old thread, because I'm really intrigued by these chemicals.

Anyone have any first hand experience of the more obscure mesc. analogs? Such as thioescaline or 3c-te... or metaescaline?

Also, I bet 3c-4-desoxy-escaline would be interesting... (3,4,5-analog of doet)

I wish I could get the chance to try these some day...
