Meeting a psychiatrist, should I tell him about my illicit Ritalin use

I'm in the UK and I have an appointment with a psychiatrist very soon. I suffer from debilitating anxiety and general social phobia, and possibly ADHD. I'm going to see a psychiatrist to get appropriate medication and advice and to get diagnosis for ADHD.

Should I tell him that I have illicitly used Ritalin in another country in an attempt to self medicate my ADHD, and I found that 20mg was an effective dose for me.

never disclose of ANY drug abuse to a shrink, doc, pcp whatever. i assume your going for an amp/benzo combo it doesnt happen anymore sorry. choose one or the another.

are you f...... nuts never ever tell a p doc that you are self medicating or drug abuse
they'll close your file

or worse you get the red flag that states "this patient has tried to obtain drugs for recreation please do not prescribe him any xxxxxxx"

Wow, I see... I was actually only looking for amp, certainly not benzos. I hate benzos, they don't do anything for my anxiety, yet they make me tired and extremely depressed. But in case doc prescribes Ritalin and starts with 10mg, I don't want to waste time and I want to go straight to atleast 20mg, because I found that to be somewhat effective. I guess I won't tell, but what if I'm prescribed something like 5mg dexies, they might not work because of some prior meth use, I'm afraid I will have to use street amph...

I've just read your other thread and it stated you used meth 2 months ago, I'm guessing that's you. If you used it 2 months ago then your fine. And if you want 20mg. Get your script. Come back next mouth and say you think more would be better. Simple as that

agree and well shit for what it is if they give you something and it doesnt work you can easily make it known and ask to try something else
there is no one pill for all
i changed benzos like 3 times because of either crazy side effects or either it didnt do shit for my anxiety

Definitely don't disclose jack shit about drug use to your doctor. They all like to play God and pick and choose who's worthy of treatment. If you tell him you tried ritalin once, you'll be nothing but a liability in his mind and he'll go straight to the classic escape route: Scripting you an antidepressant (as well as red-flagging you).

Anyways, just say you want to try ritalin because you're worried about medications in general, and that you researched it and liked Ritalin bc it is the oldest and most proven ADD/ADHD med. That way, you look like a faggot who is afraid of meds (which docs love) and also someone who knows what they want to make their job easier.

And take whatever dose of ritalin you get. Then, 2-3 weeks later call and ask the nurse if she can put in a request to him to up your dose. Dealing with the nurse is the best bet, bc she'll just leave a note for him and he'll probably be so busy sucking his own dick that he'll say "yeah whatever ok" and print the script out on the spot.

If your intention is to be prescribed ADHD medication I would recommend informing the Dr. of whichever med you think works best for you. The wording is important and since a Dr. is there to help relieve your specific symptoms, if he knows that a certain medication has had beneficial effects then he is more likely to prescribe what you have already used before. I would be careful on how you word your request and not sound like you have sketchy intentions. The most logical way to get the Dr on your side is to say you had been prescribed ADHD medication within the past couple of years and it helped you with controlling the symptoms without any negative side effects. Don't use the line of obtaining the medication illicitly. No doctor wants to hear that especially regarding a contolled substance. Stay calm. You should be good.

im not much a rec drug user of any sorts just a old school boozer
when i first went in for anxiety and panic disorder i was put on buspar
it didnt do jack shit
went back and the doc gave me xanax told her i was scared to take it and denied the xanax

I had the nicest pdoc ever. I told him everything and he still treated me like a human. He passed away on me when he was only 41 God bless his soul. In your case I wouldn't disclose anything. They will just file you up as a drug addict. Thank you for having a honest heart tho. Those don't come cheap these days.

Thanks for the chuckle, I needed that.
