'Medical' Marijuana

I was just talkin to some surfer type stoner dudes in their 20s from CA that say they're medical marijuana patients. Supposedly, if you just complain about sleeplessness, you are qualified.

The rules vary from county to county, some places you can grow 6 plants, other upto 99 (or have 1/2 - 3 lbs of dried weed).

Does anyone know if this is true, and how easy is it to actually get prescribed medical marijuana?

Wow, thanks...

I was mostly looking to see if anyone else on here is or knows anyone that has a medical marijuana prescription that uses it for recreational purposes. I have used google man, I've read prop 215

It all depends on where you live. If you live in a place where medpot is established and relatively accepted, then all it takes is finding the right doc, and I know they're listed somewhere. I live in socal, so when I turn 18 (or whatever age you need to be), I'm driving over to the nearest guy I can find and getting a license. Not only is it legal for you to grow/posess, but the compassion clubs that are established in some places sell great bud for uber cheap prices (for example, an ounce of bubblegum for 80 bucks). It gets even better if you can get health insurance to pay for it.

I've always been told that medical marijuana distributers/clubs were incredibly expensive, but reliable for incredibly potent mainstream strains.(AK-47, bubblegum, northern lights, etc.)

in my case i had a record of treatment for a certain medical condition dating back for a year before seeing a dr that specializes in prop 215 recommendations, he looked over my medical records, asked if mj provides relief better than the pharmaceutical drugs, which i replied "yes" and wrote up my letter, simple as that, and to the person who said the dispensaries are cheap is very wrong, some give a discount if your terminal or on social security ranging from 10-25%, prices range from $40-75 an eight, $275-550 an oz. with $75/550 strains being kush strains(og,bubba, purple)

Tell this dude u met to go shit in a hat

bullshit

it is actually tons more than street prices and in my opinion not worth paying the money to get the card, plus over paying for the bud.

ill take the ticket instead and still pay less

Medical Marijuana: It's not JUST for 20s types.

I am a Medical Marijuana patient near San Francisco. I have been "certified" for the last 3 years.

When I get to one of the many Cannabis Buyers Clubs, I show my Med Pot ID, and then go inside. As I look around, I see many people in their 40s, 50s, 60s (and once a lady, 87 years young). Certainly, though, half of the customers are under 30.

I have seen some prices listed above, and I wonder where those people go to buy their "medicine." The TOP grades (like White Widow, exotic Kush, Diesel) go for no more than $55 an eighth (and less in some Clubs). A couple weeks ago I saw White Widow going for $40 (at an out-of-the-way Club).

Several Buyers Clubs have free-or-low-cost Medicine programs. You prove your income, then, each week you can receive several grams of Mid-grade.

And, for the adventure-seekers, most Clubs sell "clones" of some of the Hottest Strains on the market. For a few dollars, you can buy a 6-inch-high White Widow plant (some Clubs also sell 18-inch clones). No more fussing with trying to buy seeds from Amsterdam, and hoping that most of them will germinate. You buy a healthy plant, and just transplant it into your Garden.

Ouside of the Club scene, there are many Collectives, where members grow plants for other members, and only charge a little bit for their services. So, if the crop is bountiful, a person can get several ounces of High-grade Marijuana for $50 or so.

Having a Doctor's Recommendation is a pretty-good thing. For one thing, it keeps a Cop from arresting you if you happen to be holding less-than 8 ounces (I usually never have more than 2 oz on me). But another reason is: You are allowed to smoke Pot wherever it is legal to smoke a cigarette. This way, if I'm at my favorite park, I can smoke-away, free from the hassle of worrying about getting popped.

Just out of curiosity, how much is "a few dollars"?

Otherwise, thanks for that info.

prop 215 makes it easy to get pot from the clubs and even provides a lawyer if you are a card carrying member,if you get busted there lawyer will defend you as an expert witness but the federal law still supercedes state law and if they want to bust you they can . the fact is the recomendation and the card cost about 175.00 all together and then you go to the clubs and the herb ranges from 40 for the bargain bud to 65 for the best stuff you can also buy mids and baked goods .for some pics of what is available check my gallery.

Alot of disinformation, here. I'd go with the freepickard.com

In the case of the feds, it becomes federal jurisdiction when you cross state lines with it, i.e. ship via usps, fedex, ups. Interstate Commerce. By staying away from Interstate Commerce and being on the good side of the Feds, they are able to do what they do.

EJ wonders: Just out of curiosity, how much is "a few dollars" [for a Clone]?

Prices vary, according to the Cannabis Buyers Club (and the particular Strain). I haven't bought any, so the prices I know are a couple years old, but at one Club the High-grade Clones were going for $15 to $20. At the other one I remember, the best ones were going for $25 to $30. I think the 18-inchers were $40.

Thanks for asking. If anyone wants more info about Buyers Clubs, just ask. And, if I don't know, I'll find out on my next visit (and report back).

Wow, that's an awful lot. Clones are usually around the 3 euro's overhere. If you'd have to pay so much for a clone, I would rather buy some seeds.

Johnnyb420 said a couple of things that I think are incorrect: "prop 215 ... even provides a lawyer if you are a card carrying member, if you get busted their lawyer will defend you as an expert witness."

I have never heard of this. I have somewhat active in the Med Pot movement. First, if an attorney was going to "help" someone in a prosecution, he wouldn't be used as an Expert Witness (after all, what would an attorney be an expert on, anyway?). And SB 215 did not allocate the Millions necessary to pay for the many attorneys who would need to be hired for the Federal cases.

And also: "then you go to the clubs and the herb ranges from 40 for the bargain bud to 65 for the best stuff you can also buy mids..."

The Cheapo Pot, usually known as Mexican Brown, is pretty inexpensive. At one Club I can get it for $5 an eighth (and the highest price I have ever seen is $10). The so-so grades are about $20, and the Mid-grades are $30 to $45 (where the High-grades are $50 to $55). I have been to at least 10 Clubs in the Bay Area, but there are about 40 of them (so, I guess, some of them might charge a little more).
