Marquis Reagent Question

I have two bottles here that were shelved intentionally to research aging. They've both been at 25-35* C for 3 and 5 years respectively. Both reagents contain polymerised formaldehyde and both are brown in color. Both react vigorously with sugar.

As mentioned previously, testing with sugar is not a good indication as to reagent quality. Color of reagent is the best guide. Testing with a known drug can also be good indicator.

Freshly made Marquis stored at room temp will last around 4-6 months in this climate (sub tropical) until it changes color. It may still be used for awhile but senistivity is reduced. If stored at ~4 *C it will last much longer. If the reagent contains some methanol, Marquis should last over a year if stored correctly.
