I havn't been able to smoke any weed in the last 2 weeks, as my town is dry right now. This is the fist time I've gone longer than 1 day in as long as I can remeber. I know a lot of you will probably just laugh at me, but I am going through some pretty tough withdrawl. I havnt been able to sleep very much, and I'm getting really depressed. I've started smoking cigarettes again (which I've quit for more then 6 months) and drinking heavily, but even that dosn't help much. I find my self thinking of suicide a lot, and I think about weed basiclly 24/7. Have any of you had a really hard time coming off weed, and if so how did you deal with it? How long is this going to go on for? I don't know how much longer I can take it...

If you've already been without it for 2 weeks I doubt you have much withdrawl left to go, give it another week or 2 and you should be back to normal.

Hello
I have sympothy for you. My man is a heavy pot smoker. I can recall a horrible time he had without it. It was on his 2 nd day we left for vacation. He could not enjoy himself at all.
He could not sleep, eat,or concentrate on anything. I finally insisted he drive back home( 250 mile round trip) and do something. We had a 10 day vacation with 8 days left. The thought of him feeling like shit the rest of the vaca was just not going to happen. He did and got what he needed. You sound like you are close to the end of the worst of it. ( I hope) good luck.

your withdrawal should be over by now which seems to suggest youre suffering because you were psychologically dependent on weed and using it to reach peaceful states of mind. the only thing i can suggest is doing meditation or something else that can bring peace to your mind. all you really have to do is stop thinking about it and slowly your mind will return to a more peaceful state.

I agree with the poster above. MEDITATION will help you so much in dealing with your withdrawel. Go to erowid if you don't know how to meditate properly and it will explain how to do it. This will quite your mind and bring you back to a state of equilibrium.

my husband and i transferred jobs and had to move from the state i had lived in my entire life. i had my connections set in stone there...to move to a new state, new friends, new job...of course no connection. it took me six months to finally find a consistent source, but in the meantime i went through exactly what you are going through. it was horrible and i will never forget it...i will also think very seriously about ever relocating again. i can say that the intensity of the major withdrawal symptoms did diminish, but i can also honestly say that i never forgot about it. i constantly was trying to find a way to find a new source. i just lost the totally stressed out feeling i had for the first month. i also paid for a flight back to my old state just to hook up and find a way to send some to myself...that helped me get through the dry spell. i totally sympathize with you and can tell you to hang in there and it won't be like that forever. either your symptoms will subside or your dry spell will end.

try some 5-htp. I use it everyday anyway, but it works wonders for when I'm tryin to take a break from weed. It kinda evens me out a little bit and makes my moods generally more positive and i'm more likely to want to get out and do shit. I definatly have a serotonin prob. I'd say though.

5htp makes the days of no smoking tolerable cuz i don't feel as crazy and angry/depressed for no reason.

The biggest problem I ever had while on a weed break was trouble sleeping. I just got so used to being stoned and passing out for the night that it was hard to fall asleep without it. That problem went away within a week, though.

why would he not take any on the trip?

if you both drove there, why not bring it...

Your current situation, while I have sympathy for your sufferings, may also be taken as a wakeup call man.

If you are this psychologically (and physically, it would appear) dependant on marijuana, and you've been a daily user for "as long as you can remember," it really might be time to re-evaluate how often you should be smoking weed.

My intention here isnt to plant my feet on a soapbox and preach to you; I smoke too. But when cessation of smoking causes such drastic symptoms, perhaps it's time to take a step back, be glad you're letting your tolerance drop, and consider smoking less often when your town becomes infested with pot again.... which will happen with time.

It's just something to think about, but I'd really recommend that you consider my advice.

Good luck with the withdrawls, bud.

Sounds like it's the first time you quit after a long period of use, the first times are always worst, after that stopping isn't that much of a deal anymore.

this is true as well.

when I first started smoking and couldn't find any even for a DAY i would freak out and get real angry etc etc. My first long break was like 13 days, but it was definatly forced due to jail, so I didn't even notice any withdrawal or anything cuz i had a ton of other shit to worry about.

took a week break straight about a month ago, and the month surrounding that I only smoked like 5 times. I'm smokin daily again, but usually just a few hits in the afternoon (if that), and then I get pretty high around midnite and pass out.

cutting down how much you smoke a day works wonders, and it makes the high you do have a lot better. It kinda chills me out into the next day and I get shit done just looking forward to smokin at the end of the night. If I ran out tommorow and couldn't get any the only time i'd be REALLY mad about it is at night when I can't sleep. I've always had problems sleeping though even before the weed, i was always up til like 3am even if I got up at 7am and went to school and worked 7 hours. Just can't sleep for shit.

i'm telling you though get some 5-htp and it will help a lot with any depression you feel

stay busy, get a job or two, maybe take a supplement (NOT PERSCRIPTION, some are known to cause more suicidal thoughts) to help you through the depression. most of all just stay busy, keep your mind moving.

similar was happening to me, I was all pissed off, and then I realized my mind was just bored.

Marijuana withdrawls are real and last about 5 days.

They are completely 100% real.
Ive had problems with weed addiction (no offence, most likely worse than yours) and really once you get through the first week you will start to figure out what it is you used to do before you found weed and it should get progressively easier, but im sure the want to smoke will never go away.

Oh damn im getting ready to go through the same situation. Ive been stoned day in and day out for the past forever. Saturday im going on a vacation (through plane) and will have to go sober for a week with my family, including younger cousins (blah). I guess Ill get through it by thinking of how stoned I will be when I get back from vacation :P

Jus' another thing...

I've "withdrawn" from marijuana countless times, and I'd say the most prevalent withdrawl effects can be divided into three simplie-to-remember categories:

1. *Mild* Insomnia
You're not going to be up all night, grinding your teeth and constantly rinsing your aching, bloodshot eyes with Visine, but it certainly may take longer than normal to shut those peepers with any sort of finality.

2. Light to Heavy Depression
This one really kick me square in the balls when I quit smoking. I'm left a socially paranoid mess who loves nothing more than to lie on a much-too-comfortable couch, order delivery Cheesesteaks and surf bluelight. I stay in the house way too often, which sucks, because I only get six television channels. Two of which are in different languages and one of which is Public Broadcasting.

3.Lethargy!
This one also gets me too. You probably won't feel like going out much and interacting with people for a few days, but this is completely normal. In a sense, I used to feel like I'd have to counteract this effect by giong out as much as posible to avoid the feeling of isolation, but then I realized its best to just lay around and purposely act like a slob for a few days to replenish your energy and mind.

btw, knumb, I just re-read your post... do NOT consider suicide. Give it one to three weeks for the shit to clear out of your system, and quite honestly, you'll feel like a new person. Last year I quit and the fist two weeks were hell. After the 14th day, I realized what a waste I'd let myself go to and quit smoking for five months! Stay strong, dude. Best of luck.

Keep us updated?

Well I managed to get some weed again, and even though its pretty crappy, it works, and I'm back to my normal routine. I've been wanting to quit (err, cut down to once a week) for a while, but havn't really had the willpower. Now that I realize how bad it is, I want cut down even more. I'm going to try to keep it to once every 2-3 days in the evenings and see how that goes. Also this fall I plan to make drastic changes to my life, as I am moving to the other side of the country (Alberta). Although when I get depressed I think about suicide a lot, I don't think I would ever do it. I have been through serious depression in the past and several antidepressants, but I am never touching those again, too many bad side effects. Its almost like weed balances some imbalance in my brain or something. Benzos seem to balance me pretty good too, but they put me in too much of a daze to get anything done (I'm a programmer, so I need my brain). Thanks for the advice everyone, and to those going through similar situations - good luck.

Man, when some weed comes around, Don't bother smoking any. Your doing hella good here bro at 2 weeks, after 7 days there are no type of phsycial addiction to the drug, it is just your mind. Stay ahead while you can.
