First, I should start off by saying that I am not a novice with Marijuana, Ambien, or Ativan. However, I am a novice with this combination.
How it started
I don't smoke marijuana very often. But, I enjoy doing it recreationally every 4 months or so. Anyways a friend of mine needed some topical Lidocaine for a bad canker sore. He knew I had some left over topical Lidocaine, so he asked me if he could have it. I said sure and had no thought about it.
When he came over to my house to pick it up; to thank me, he gave me a 30 sack of weed. He told me it was really dank and that it was payment for the Lidocaine. I was actually really excited since it's been a pretty long time since I've had some bud (this February was the last time I had some weed, so it's been 8 months or so since I've smoked weed). I asked him if he wanted to stay over and maybe smoke a bowl or two. He said thanks and that he'd love to, but he had to be somewhere else. So I thanked him again, and he left.
As soon as he left, I pulled my bong off the top shelf of my closet, cleaned the dust off of it, filled it with water, loaded up the bowl and took my first toke. I finished off the bowl, start another one, and eventually had 4.
I did my usual stuff I do when I'm high and home alone. I took a shower, fapped, played some video games, fapped, listened to music, fapped, then watch Ice Age.....pretty sure I fapped again after that.
Ambien (Zolpidem) + Ativan (Lorazepam)
After all the above, it was around 2 AM so I decided it was probably best for me to get some sleep. So I took my prescribed dose of Ambien. But I also took an Ativan because the weed had put me on edge a bit. I tried going to sleep, but then I decided for some reason, that it would be "more fun" to fall asleep listening to some music. And what's the best way to enhance music? (Besides some Ecstasy) is some good ol' Mary Jane.
So right before I went to bed, I smoke 3 more bowls. I climbed in bed pretty baked and started listening to music. After ten minutes or so, I noticed that the Ambien was kicking in. I expected to fall asleep soon, but something happened that I was not expecting at all....
The trip
I started noticing shapes appearing everywhere in my visual field. They would disappear as fast as they appeared. This lasted for approximately 5 minutes and then got more intense. Suddenly the shape stopped being just shapes, they starting turning into more than just that. People started appearing everywhere. Some of them were no bigger than a doll and others would reach through the ceiling. None of the looked that malicious, but they we're very distracting since I was trying to get to sleep.
I guess I should note that by this time, my closed-eye hallucinations were exactly the same as the ones overlayed on my visual field. What I mean by this is; I would see visuals when my eyes were open, but then when I closed them, the same visuals were still there.
Anyways, as the effects of the Ambien became more prominent, the hallucinations and cognitive impairment became more prominent as well.
Besides the visual impairment of the Ambien with the Weed, Ambien also seemed to really heighten the physical effects of it as well. As the Ambien started to take effect, I noticed that it really seemed to make the "spinniness" of the weed high a lot more prominent and powerful. As time went on, this became overwhelming, but I'll get to that in a bit.
As the visual effects started coming on, and the spinning of the room got faster, I started to get a bit nauseous and decided to get out of bed. Since there wasn't anything else to do, I got on my computer. I noticed that a friend of mine was on steam. So I called him. I told him how high I was. He seemed a little annoyed but kept talking to me anyways. Something else I forgot about the ambien was the fact that, with the weed, the amnesitic effects were greatly heightened. So a lot of this I'm sure I'm not remembering correctly, or I don't remember at all, but I'll say everything I remember.
Anyways, as I kept talking to my friend he told me that he could barely understand a word I was saying. At the time, it was extremely difficult to do any motor movement, and I could feel it too. So I could tell at the time just how hard it was to make my mouth move at all, but everything I was saying still made sense in my head, so I kept talking. I didn't realize until the next when my friend played back some of our conversation, just how awful my speech really was. I literally could barely talk. And the way I sounded, sounded way more like someone who was extremely drunk, not high. I made no sense. I would say two words about a topic, stall on the last word I had just said, pause, then say two words about something else. To give you an example, I sounded like this - "Hhhheeeeeyyyy.........dude! I'm high.....................yeah eeeeeyyyyyeeee...........two bowls. Woah! Whaaaat waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas that? Holy fuck duuuude!!!................my arms are orrrrrrrrrange. Wait...issssnnt that one................heeeey duuuude. Call Of Trudy time!"
As I talked to my friend, the visuals got even more powerful. I started seeing colors everywhere. The whole rom was starting to change colors. Plus the shapes were still there, the people were still there, etc. as I saw the colors appearing and disappearing, I started looking around the room and noticed that colors in General were distorted. I looked at my arms at one point and they actually looked like a burnt orange color.
Up until this point, everything was fine, but I started to get anxiety. This is mainly due to even more heightened visual hallucinations, the introduction of auditory hallucinations, and the spinning sensations. At this point I started noticing something extremely odd in the way of visual hallucinations. I literally started seeing "video clips" except in my visual field. Plus there were in 3D space, not like a picture on my wall or something. To further explain Ill give an example.
I looked at my floor near a wall and saw a small boy playing with a toy truck. The boy looked to be from the 1920's, but it could have been anytime during the 1940's and the time in between, based on the kind of cloths he was wearing. But that's not even the most interesting part. He looked extremely vivid and very real. His movements weren't robot like most other weed hallucinations are, but instead, his movements were extremely fluid and looked just like a real life humans movements. But the weirdest thing about it was the fact that behind him and where he was sitting, wasn't my room.
Where my wall should have been and my floor should have been, it was totally gone and replaced with, what I call "Video Clips". The floor he was sitting on looked to be a brick road. Behind him, I could see what looked to be like a 1940's era city. It was night, and he was behind a movie theatre. The city was entirely lit up like it would have been at night. But oddly enough, there was no one else around, it was just him, behind a movie theatre, playing with a toy, in the street.
He faded away eventually and other things like this started appear and disappearing. Eventually, I started to get the spins even worse than I already had and was getting quite ill. At his point, the hallucinations got a lot worse and I started having a "bad trip". Since I was getting so sick, I layed my head on my desk for a bit. When I got up I notice that red lightning was coming out if my lamp and going all around my room in addition to everything else. As I started to notice this, the lightning started zapping in people. These people weren't neutral. They were entirely black, had piercing red eyes and they had very evil looking faces. As soon as the lightning brought the first one in, everything else disappearing in my room, except the figure and the lightning. As time went on, the lightning brought in four other figures.
I knew what was happening, I tried to calm myself down. I told myself "These guys aren't real. There just projections of my subconcious, I'm just high and freaking myself out." As I kept telling myself that, they just kept staring at me.
As I started realizing that my anxiety was only getting worse, not better, I tried confronting them directly. I shouted "I know you aren't real, I know your red eyes aren't real AND IM GOING TO WALK RIGHT THROUGH YOU AND GO TO BED!" As soon as I said that, the one I was looking at directly, said to me - with his mouth moving and everything, "I'm real, Zeke, because your real." I knew exactly what he meant by that. I was literally dumb struck when I hear him say it because I knew what he was at that point. He was one of the people that live inside my head. I knew as soon as he said that sometimes I become this evil monster as don't even know it, but he knows me. He knows everything about me, how I think, everything I do, my pleasures, my fears......in fact, now that I think about it, he probably knew me better than I know myself. As soon as I realized that, I lost it. The battle was over, my anxiety took control at that point.
As soon as he knew that I knew, he disappeared, as did the rest. I climbed in my bed, sicker than he'll from the spins, and just layed there because I knew there was nothing I could do. At this point things are pretty hazy, but I remember that all night long these.....figures kept appear and disappearing. They kept taking, whispering things in my ears that they knew I was afraid of - confirming all my fears. It was an awful night. Eventually I fell asleep. I had an extremely stressful dream. But woke up 4 hours later. By this point the visuals were gone, everything was gone. However, the few of these figures is now an all to real one and I woke up with a horrible hangover.
After this, I learned that Ambien plus weed is not something to mix. It also made me remember why I don't often smoke weed. Since this, many of my mental symptoms have been greatly exacerbated. My mood is her unstable at the moment, and I'm having to take my Ativan once every 4 hours or so.
