Not sure if this belongs here, please feel free to move it mods...

I want to know what is going on neurochemically when someone is in a manic state and whether a drug induced manic state would be the same regardless of the drug that induces it.

I have also heard people link ADHD and MJ use. Any further info regarding this would be great also. As an ADHD sufferer I have found that MJ puts me into a semi manic state, wondering if anyone else has any similar experiences

fMRIs don't tell you what neurotransmitters are released.

ya thc makes me anxious and for it really hard to concentrate and sometimes keep thinking the same thoughts over and over again then think about something else for a while.

This is my guess - considering anti-psychotics stop mania very well, and all of them block dopamine D2 receptors (plus others) i would say when you are manic lots of dopamine is hitting D2 receptors, plus high noradrenaline, because i do not get manic on opiates, but i get manic on speed some times. and low seratonin, because seratonin makes me relaxed and happy (eg. l-tryprophan)

i have tried risperidone and chlorpromazine when i have drug induced mania, usally from uppers and THC and the anti-psychotics stopped the mania dead in its tracks. I also take a very small dose (25mg) of amisulpride most days, because it is a very good mood lifter.

^^^

how long have you been taking amisulpride?

i've had a few boxes of it for almost a year, found it worked GREAT for a while.. then kinda.. pooped out on me. even if i do not take it for weeks it still doesn't seem to do much, i'd usually take 50mg.

i have been taking amisulpride a few months, and i must admit, the first week or two i got high, but now i dont get high from it, i just feel better overall. And i usually only take it every 2nd day, and sometimes have breaks, because it seems to help 'feeling' it.

also when i take a 50mg dose, that is too much cause i can feel it lowering my ''body" dopamine (less power in muscles), and the next day i rebound and feel very energetic. It has a 12 hour half life. So 25mg is a good dose.

It is no magic pill, but i find i get NO side effects in low doses (less than 50mg), where as every other drug i have tried (all the SSRI's (too many side effects to mention including chronic headaches on prozac and zombie emotions), effexor (100-200 big yawns a day so my neck and jaw muscles ache all the time), moclbemide (headaches when i smoke cigarettes and watching out for MAOI B inhibitors all the time, and eating tyramine food giving me headaches), mirtazapine (sedation and weight gain), reboxatine (really set off my IBS and fast heart all night so very light sleeps)) all give me side effects that i feel are unacceptable.
