I take dexamp for ADHD purposes and find my tolerance is rising quite rapidly which I did expect, but it seems to be rising faster than what I honestly assumed especially as I am trying to limit my usage to days when I only really need it!

I keep hydrated and well-fed, take the lowest amount I need, dont abuse my prescription and also have been taken a magnesium blend that contains 750mg of magniesum amino acid chelate + 500mg magnesium dyglycinate which also contains a small amount of zinc, B6, seleium, chromium. I have been taking it a few hours before bed at night regardless of whether I have used my amp that day. I also take cranberry juice towards the end of the day to flush out amp in urine, aswell as a general basic multi-v and sometimes vitamin C.

My question here is basically in regards to preventing amp tolerance what is the best time to take it? Should I take it with my dose of amp in the morning, during the day or at night. IIRC, magnesium may potentiate the amp if taken at the same time?

Cant seem to find any real info in what time people take it... my best guess is that taking it in the morning would probably be best though interms of preventing side effects throughout the day and that would be best at preventing amp tolerance aswell as at night for the benefeits i mentioned in terms of sleep and relaxing.

Cheers :)

IIRC magnesium is best absorbed in the evening, if it's daily rather than acute I'd hazard a guess that evening would be best. For acute, maybe an hour before though. Granted I have little knowledge of the topic. Good question though!

I take 2 grams of extended release vitamin c, 325 mg of mg citrate, and 20 mg of memantine BID. I take amp anywhere from 3-6 times a week but everytime -- with this combo -- it gets the job done.

I have looked in the Amp Neurotoxicity Reduction pages a few times already :)

Since no one has a definite answer I'll keep taking it at night, a few hours before bed, and next week might start taking it in the morning to see if it makes any difference. I have noticed next to no jaw clenching since using it though so night or day, based on that, probably isnt going to make much difference if I take it every night consistently.

I noticed on my packet it actually has a trace amount of magnesium in it, I take the Aust sort so it is only the Dex, no other ingredients, I find if my tolerance gets too high I ask my doc if I can have a few days off or on a very low dose then work my way back again, Hope that helps, (Yes we are aware of the search engine!) Some questions are very particular and a greenlighter isn't usually someone who can navigate this site too easily Esp with ADHD, I have been here on and off for many years and I have made mistakes (because of ADHD) So it's sort of paradoxical to tell someone off who has explained learning difficulties to just work it out. Peace, stop the hating/trolling/cynical/judgmental Attitudes, This is harm reduction, from the actual use to helping people in emotional states. Help don't Hate. I hope you find the help you need MrSpeedyG.

Yeah my dex has magnesium as a filler, it doesnt mention how much, what type and is most likely insignificant.

Yeah sometimes questions go unanswered and missed or recieve a typical "utfse" response because someone sees it and thinks that could easily be found with a search when the question itself is particular. In this case I could see how someone might skim over this and think I'm asking if magnesium prevents amp tolerance (which an answer is easily availible with a search) when the actual question is TIMING of the magnesium in regards to prevent amp tolerance. Makes sense, no?

Logan, I'm very well aware of "tse" and only post a new topic if its needed. "Tse" did not give me any results in particular to TIMING.
