So last time I rolled i didnt roll very hard, and i just would like to rule out the magnesium oxide. I took 3x 250mg magnesium oxide pills about an hour before dropping. Does magnesium prevent a roll in anyway shape or form? The reason i ask is because i had my friend take magnesium as well, he double dropped a known GREAT pill and still didnt roll much. He used the same magnesium oxide i used. Any thoughts?

One note, the magnesium oxide did NOT help with my jaw clenching, as it's supposed to. Go with the wisdom of these forums and get yourself some magnesium chelate or citrate if you can.

The 3 types all have different Bio availability (how much is actually absorbed) Magnesium oxide, having poor bio availability.

I wouldn't have thought that magnesium would decrease your 'rolling' though.
But at a guess i'd say that there is a high chance that it will decrease negative physical symptoms such as bruxism (gurning away) Provided of course enough of the right type is consumed.

interesting, i just dont wanna be disappointed next time (march) So ur best guest would be that magnesium oxide, while not the best bio availability, shouldnt really affect the roll aspect? I thought it was odd that a buddy of mine double dropped a great pill and barely rolled, having taken the same magnesium oxide.

If i was you,
I'd go for magnesium Citrate.

It should not diminish your mdma effects,
it should really just lessen your bruxism. So that way it takes away a negative side effect mostly then.

thanks ill google it. My little town here doesnt have anything good as far as supplements go. :D

3x 250mg magnesium oxide at once sounds like a lot at once. Even one 350mg magnesium oxide pill completely fucks up my stomach/digestive system, I get stomach cramps diarrhea you name it. Perhaps you had problems with absorption because of all the magnesium you took beforehand and experienced a diminished roll? I don't think taking magnesium would have any effect on your brain that would diminish the roll atleast, so my bet goes to slower or somehow impartial absorption.

With magnesium oxide you should be spacing your dosage and taking it with food anyway (I am making the assumption you didn't eat much because you took mdma an hour afterwards), the more you take at once, the less bio-available it becomes (someone correct me if I'm wrong here). I would recommend for example magnesium L-lactate dihydrate sustained release formulations instead of magnesium oxide. Magnesium oxide isn't absorbed in the stomach but instead in the small intestine. There's a catch though, magnesium oxide has to be converted to a more water soluble form by the stomach acids for it to be absorbed in the small intestine. This is not the fastest process, so the longer it stays in your stomach, the higher will the amount of absorbed magnesium be. I'd argue that generally you want steady amounts of these nutrients in your bloodstream, instead of having the amounts fluctuate a lot by taking megadoses of supplements every now and then instead of taking small amounts at regular intervals.

Could be that they were just bad pills. Maybe they were from a good and reputable batch yeah, but perhaps these individuals were improperly stored that resulted in some degradation of the active ingredients. Who knows if they even were 100% mdma but instead had an ingredient in them that didn't really work well with magnesium thus making you only feel partial effects. Plenty of things to speculate on *shrugs*.

interesting, i can assure you the pill was just filler and mdma. Tested tried and true. Wonder what they used for filler though..... hmmmmmm.

p.s.: I noticed nothing gassy/poopy at all when i took 750mg of magnesium........ :/

Magnesium is involved in 300 different biochemical processes!
So it is hard to say exactly what its effects would be...

But it is important for the production of neurotransmitters and is a known neuro-protectant.
Sam is right about poor bioavailability in the oxide form, but I am quite sensitive to it now.
It makes me very calm and sleepy, especially when my intestines start moving - I really like the stuff.

It is also an NMDA (glutamate) antagonist, which is relevant to the Prefrontal Cortex - where the release of serotonin and dopamine causes the most euphoric effects of MDMA. I imagine that taking any of the stronger NMDA antagonists (ket) prior to rolling would alter or diminish the experience as well. Lots of people take ketamine following MDMA or amphetamine use - claiming that it reduces neurotoxicity and eliminates the comedown.
It also causes a dissociation from the mind and body and the 're-emergence phenomena' is a powerful and frightening experience to some people. Ketamine reliably simulates schizophrenia making it suitable for study in animal models!
But it also causes synaptogenesis in the prefrontal cortex...

Or it could be that you have rolled enough times that you read about taking Magnesium to reduce the unwanted effects.
This could mean that you are due to 'lose the magic' soon, so a long break is warranted.
But your friend's identical experience and the high dose of Mag you took seems a likely cause.

Try eating a high protein diet and taking magnesium and alpha lipoic acid for a few days prior to the roll.
And then after.
And wait at LEAST 90 days between rolls.

thanks for you input, ive only rolled once and ive currently waited over 3 months since last time, ready to make this time amazing..... :D I take a little magnesium every day with my multivitamin, so i think ill skip a pre-load with magnesium this time and just go for it :D
