LSD Experience: Life, Art and The Universe

Drug: Liquid LSD
Amount: 6 Drops (approx 600ug) on sugar cubes.
Time Period: 20 hours

Were to start on the biggest craziest trip I have been on? It had been 3 months or so since we had last tripped and that was on the now legendary "microdots" so we were a bit hesitant about the quality of this liquid, but as someone who has had a lot of the microdots I can honestly say that the current batch of liquid going round is every bit as good as the dots.... the dots were just a very high concentration per "dot".... as people have said numerous times in this forum...acid is acid.... the quality very rarely changes....only the concentration.... anyway... back to the trip report.

My housemate obtained a decent quantity of liquid lsd on Friday afternoon and we planned to go to the art gallery on Saturday (something we have talked about doing on acid for a while) However we could not wait and decided to take 2 drops each (each drop is about 100ug) at around 7pm. We had another friend with us who was a first timer so he only had 1drop and yet another two friends joined us about a half hour later who also had 2 drops each. So the five of us sat and waited for the magic to happen. The "waiting game" is always filled with excitement and tension while taking lsd as you wait for the first distortion or the first giggle fit... but to quote the Simpson’s..."I hate the waiting game, let's play hungry hungry hippos!"...... after an hour we were slightly affected but not hugely so the 4 experienced trippers had another......damn! we always fool ourselves into doing that exact thing... the moment you take the second batch the first trips you take kick in and you think..."uh oh what have I done!"

So by now we were tripping pretty hard and still waiting for the last drop to kick in.... the fun was about to begin. It is a favourite thing of ours to do to just take off from the house on a "journey" while tripping, the journey is usually to the shops, or to the club to have a drink, or to the service station, but these menial walks on lsd always seem like epic adventures that may as well span years, and this was no different. There was the first timer and another friend who had only been with us once before so we decided to take one of our usual walks to start our adventure.....we left for the local petrol station!

The way to the service station by foot is pretty much mostly through a park and playground area, It was a crystal clear night and stars where twinkling and winking at us from the heavens, we commented that the trees were dancing for us, and the sound of the, wind, birds and insects all around us sounded like a harmony, a friend told us a story at this stage of one time when he was on an oval and was nearly scared to death by a water sprinkler coming on right next to him. (The relevance of that random story becomes apparent later). We got to the service station which is like a beacon of coloured lights. We went inside and bought some drinks and cigarettes, supplies for the rest of our adventure, one friend bought a new cigarette lighter that was the most ingenious invention that man has ever made. It was a lighter with a jet flame, that had a picture of a naked woman on it, but on top of the naked woman was a liquid bubble filled with glitter and stars and when you opened the lighter cover the lighter flashed intensely with red and blue LED's...needless to say we were all suitably impressed and stared and played with it for quite some time.

We continued out journey to the local pub which we had to again go through a nature park and some sporting ovals, the trees continued to dance and we came to a halt on a football oval which we chose to lay down and look at the stars jumping around the sky, the moon that night was enormous and almost full and looked like a golden oracle of light on the horizon. After laying there looking at the stars and contemplating the universe for a while we were startled by the ovals sprinkler system kicking into gear and spraying all around us! We ran like crazy to the edge and sat down on a log and then watched the sprinklers for a while, we commented that you could barley see them move and they actually looked frozen in time, it was magic.

Our journey continued to a barbeque area in the park, stared at a rusty barbeque plate for a number of minutes and watched it swirl and melt in the middle (it wasn’t turned on!)... we then noticed half of the movement was created by actual tiny bugs that were all over the plate! Cool! We moved on to the pub and showed two of the members that had not seen this club on acid a special way to it which goes underneath I giant underpass that goes under a highway, the stone structure that holds the road above the ground looks like a giant natural rock formation comparable to Ayers rock, we call this structure " the monolith!" the great thing about this structure is that at the other end you are presented with the aforementioned club, it radiates light and draws you there like the star of David! It is awe inspiring! We arrived at the club at around 11:30pm and it was closed!!! closed at 11:30 on a Friday!!! there must have been some kind of conspiracy we thought, what an outrage!!!

Not to be phased we continued on the way and decided to head to the local woolworths supermarket... I cant recommend how fun supermarkets are on lsd... they really earn the name "super".... we didn’t go to buy anything... just to go sightseeing........rows and rows of cans and bottles, illuminated with flurecant lighting...its a sensory overload....and the sounds.... the crappy background elevator music, the beeps and blings and chings of the cash register...it sounds amazing. And don’t get me started on the fruit and vegetable section...breathtaking!!!. Half the group separated and made some purchases and was waiting outside, the rest of us made some purchases and met them out there...when I came out one of my friends was eating a gigantic tomato he bought like an apple and his face and hand were covered in juice, I exclaimed "you fucking savage!".........the purchases we made included smoked salmon, smoked oysters, cheese, craizens! (cranberry raisins) and some little silver balls for cake decorating! We ate the salmon and oysters and cheese and decided our savage eating techniques and choice of food made us look like bears! We opened the sliver balls, some we ate some we bounced around and same we rolled some around in our hands amazed at how well they shined... each ball emitting a rainbow filled aura!

We now needed a new place to go and were still disappointed at the club being closed.... we ordered 2 taxis to pick us up and take us to another club that was open! splitting up on lsd is awesome.... because when you get back together you have these two different stories to tell each other. The taxi ride was great, I was in the front and the road seemed to be going backward into the car rather than the car going forward on the road... eye of the tiger was playing on the radio which made for a truly inspirational feeling, we continually pulled up next to our other friends at traffic lights and waved and giggled at each other. We got to the club and had a beer each which on lsd tastes like the first beer you have ever had, its magic, we got numerous packets of chips and snacks, partly to eat and partly to look at the mad shapes they make on the table, and the foil chip packets covered in oily grease look amazing... the carpet in the club was brightly coloured red, blue green and yellow leaves wrapping into each other. We stayed for a while then left the club on the way making sure to have a good look at a wishing well with spiralling water that is in the foyer of the club!

We adventured back to our house and base camp on the way walking past the lake, we stopped to admire the water and threw rocks into the water, trying to create the perfect "sploonk" sound. After a big walk and a lot of laughing we arrived back and spent the rest of the trip looking at candles and just chilling out and reflecting. After a while we dropped the first timer home and commented that we probably changed his life...he loved it and embraced it and got something out of it that it took me a number of trips to achieve. Another friend also left and there was 3 of us left....Myself and my housemate still wanted to see the art gallery tomorrow so we had the option of sleep....or take more and trip right through.... we took the fun option of course! So we took another drop each which would see us through to the morning and of course the sunrise. The sunrise on lsd is amazing and the way the sun plays with the clouds and the trees and undulated and swirls in the sky. While looking at this spectacle we found a stick that looked like a snake and dubbed it the snake stick! hsss hsss!... The sunrise was also accompanied by the moon going down at the same time... it amazing watch day and night together...one side of the sky filled with blue and red and golden sun rays and the other with darkness and stars and the moon. The next few hours were fairly quiet and reflective, after a while our other friend went home and it was just myself and my housemate left.

It was 7:30am so we decided to take off for the art gallery.....after having another drop of liquid of course!...we walked to the bus stop (we weren’t driving in this state!) and waited for a bus...after a while no bus came and we called the bus infoline to find out when the bus came....in an hour!!! Shit! So we had to call a taxi to take us to the main bus interchange (we still wanted to catch a bus, just for the experience) and the driver was apparently the same driver that was in the other taxi with my housemate the night before... I’m not quite sure what he thought. The taxi ride was great, in the daylight he drove past all the areas we covered in our adventure the night before in about 2 minutes of driving.... the rest of the journey, and rest of the day was uncharted territory....all other trips we had done had been at friends house and in our local suburban area. This was breaking new ground! We got to the bus station and boarded a bus which was waiting for us as soon as we arrived.... I giggled at a sign on the bus that was promoting public transport, it had a picture of a taxi... then a bus... then a ferry............I commented to my friend that I cant wait until we get to ride on a ferry! (our city doesn’t even have ferries!) I had packed an apple for munching on in my pocket and I dropped it....it rolled down the isle all the way to the back of the bus and I chased it franticly... quite amusing. We arrived at our stop...in the city!!

There was an overwhelming sense of "we ain’t in Kansas anymore toto!"........ this was the city... the big smoke! with towering buildings and bridges and landmarks and different types of trees than were in our seemingly hick suburban experience....we compared it to a children’s book "Our trip to the big smoke!"..... of course we had been there before but the lsd creates a sense of "this is new and never before seen". We headed of to the National Gallery, on the way we passed many landmarks and tourist attractions.... the lake on the edge of the city was magic in broad daylight, reflecting the buildings over the rippling shining water. We passed the National Library and The science and Technology Centre commenting that we should go there another time. We came to a part of our city I have never seen before...It was a smaller art gallery called the national portrait gallery, we didn't go in but the building was magic, in the centre was a giant outdoors corridor flanked with mirrors and glass and leading to a view of parliament house and a big Australian flag, it took our breath away, the building was encased by a hill which had lush green hills on both sides............there was nothing like this back in the suburbs we exclaimed! We arrived at the National Gallery finally and looked on the front door.... it had opening times and said "not open on weekends" ..WHAT!!!!! we were outraged!!!! how could an art gallery of national importance not be open on weekends!!!! We decided the day wasn’t a total waste and continued on our adventure.... after walking around the building we realised that the building wasn’t even the gallery! It was the high court!!! Just incase we weren’t sure we were tripping, that told us we were tripping out of our minds! Holy Crap!

But that meant that the real National Gallery was open! Hooray! So we walked next door to the actual art gallery which was also closed! But only until it opened in another hour. We walked around admiring the sculpture garden of the gallery which was open and started a tradition which would continue the rest of the day...our appraisal of art. Now on LSD you are more visually aware and more spiritually intouch with the universe and art appraisal is incredibly easy and natural. We categorised art into two distinct categories.... artist who "knew" what they were on about, and knew about life and the universe...and artist who were just "mucking around".........I don’t care what real art critics say, there is a lot of artists who are mucking around...and infact producing works which are pure crap.... people often look for two much meaning in art....and artists often try too hard to put meaning into work and it comes through in the art. Some art is rubbish... full stop. I don’t want flames from art lovers because I understand it is personal choice and relevant....I am and always have loved art myself, Its my career....but next time you look at art.... don’t try to look for something that is not there.....if the painting makes a point....or connects with you...great, but if it doesn’t, don’t create a meaning to justify it as art, that’s just bullshit............. So anyway!!!!........... We walked around the sculpture garden, some of which was brilliant.

The Gallery opened and we rushed inside...... so much art... where do we go first.... now anyone that has been to the National Gallery of Australia knows that the place is like a maze! rooms within rooms that lead to rooms with 3 rooms off them, it’s a trippers paradise, you don’t know where to go and its brilliant! Some painting made us trip so hard, the paint just sliding around the canvas to a point where we often got dizzy and needed to go outside to catch our breath! We continued through the Gallery looking at everything, but discarding much as "mucking around" a lot of art looks "pretty" but doesn’t mean a whole lot...and to us that was considered mucking around.... but every now and then there was a gem. One painting in particular had us captivated.... the artist obviously was intouch with the universe and understood nature and its interaction with the world. I for the life of me cannot remember the artist now but will find out again. The painting was probably 1.5 m high and 3 metres wide (fairly big) and was a fictional landscape which conveyed day night, sun, moon, water, trees, light, dark and an overwhelming sense of infinity. The trees spiralled into one another, some upside down, some sky was at the bottom of the painting and some ground was at the top, the artist had no regard for scale or relevant placement but that’s what made it work... its hard to describe with words but summed up how we felt watching our sunrise earlier... with both sun and moon playing with nature in perfect harmony. There is too much art to go through in this trip report and I regret that we should have written down some of the better artists but we continued through the gallery looking for gems like that one. Some we found and we continued to be breathtaken by much of it. There was any Andy Warhol exhibition, we saw his famous soup cans and commented "Andy has been to the same supermarket we were at last night" We stopped to have a beer in the cafe for lunch where we took time to "people watch". It is very interesting to observe the types of people that come to an art gallery. There are 4 main types of people.....Couples where the guy takes the girl to the gallery to "do something romantic" but the guy usually can’t stand it and has a look on his face like he would rather die. Then there is the family outing or tourist type people who are at the gallery for a "day out". Then of course the snobby art critic, who has spent more time researching the life and times and techniques of artists then actually taking the time to look at the art for themselves. Then there are people who know... people who can see the beauty and come for that alone.... that is why we were there. After many hours we had only covered maybe 2/3 of the gallery but decided we wouldn’t even look at the rest because we needed to bring others here on lsd and wanted to save some suprises for ourselves.

We walked back to the bus stop and although still slightly tripping we were so incredibly exhausted after our 20 hour tripping marathon. We got home and slept for another 20. What a ride...

oh man that was a good report
very nice read
and makes me wish sooo much that i could get my hands on some LSD these days... patience... patience..

Epic!

I would tell you my favorite part, but there are too many to chose from! In describing the LSD state you hit the nail right on the head.

Taking LSD always ends up in an adventure somehow... that sounds like one you'll remember.

peace-

ahahaha omg i was like reading your trip and was suprised at the familiarity of the scenery you were describing.

YOUR FROM CANBERRA!!!

or tripped there, i'm from canberra aswell.

lol i probably shouldn't say that.

It so reassuring to know that canberra isn't totally full of people ignorant to the mystery of our existant.
Argh, i've never had an lsd trip, i'm too scared.

Thats so cool though, canberra would be the best place ever to take lsd, there is just such an incredible aura too it.

So very very cool, wicked report aswell, should post it on erowid.

I would love go on balloon ride on acid next time I visit Canberra..... last time I visited went on a balloon ride.... it was awesome.... but probably not a good idea for safety reasons. =D
