acid(3hits) + mushrooms(6g.) - bonna-whoa!
3 hits lsd + 6-6.5 grams mushrooms
i was fortunate enough to snag a ticket to the bonnaroo music festival in tennesee this year, which turned out to be probably the best four days of my life. it was saturday night and i had 7 grams of mushrooms and enough acid to last, and thus the journey began...
8:00- me and two friends, K and J, got to the stage a half hour before Widespread Panic came on, so K and i both eat two quality doses (silver fractals) while J opts for one dose. being early (about 1,000 people waiting), we got the oppurtunity to have spots about 20 feet from the stage.
8:20- with the show quickly approaching, K and i eat another dose.
8:40- the band gets on stage and i begin buzzing with anticipation...my body filled with a pleasant warmth as the band begins to play.
9:10- now things really get going. im constantly astounded by the accuracy of the music...the perfection of every riff, the overall united sound...i can feel it move through me as we dance. i turn to evaluate the crowd, and notice that since we arrived, about 60,000 people had filled in behind us. it was amazing to look over a crowd this large, each body pulsating with excitement...it felt like we were all part of the show.
10:00- with the lsd in full effect, the visuals begin evolving into much more intricate patterns. the backdrop appeared as a vertical liquid plane that changed color and texture constantly. the lighting used created bright, circular, neon signs which rotated on this vertical canvas.
10:45- i begin seeing double of every member of the band...each casted at about 45 degrees northwest. each mirror image was, from head to toe, a shiny transparent consistency. these bodies slowly became full of intense rainbow colored light/energy that at first slowly moved around the clone but eventually filled its entire body. the mirror image soon after became one with its original, morphing together into a single being.
11:15- we decide to leave and go reserve a spot for the medeski, martin, and wood show. once we arrive we decide that it's time to consume our mushrooms. J eats an eighth (as well as a roll), K eats ~5 grams, and i eat between 6 and 7 grams. refill our water bottles and wait...
12:00- mmw comes on...wow....anyone whos seen mmw under the influence of psychadelics knows the intensity of their performance is hard to rival. their opening was shockingly intense...medeski appears as a mad scientist slamming away at his keyboard/funky sound effect machines. his body begins shifting and jolting, and his arms appear as tenticles swaying wildly from machine to machine. i feel as though they've tapped into a frequecy in my brain, feeding me code in a language i can't decipher. people begin throwing glow sticks everywhere...my vision is filled with hourglass streaks of orange, purple, green, and yellow as the band plays on.
1:30- the bass of a techno arcade located nearby became quite bothersome, so we decided to walk to the flaming lips show. they brought about the best vibes i recieved all weekend. the stage was filled with dancing folk dressed in bunny costumes, as well as bright pink lights and lots of confetti and baloons. a very strong sense of happpiness overwhelmed me...a feeling as if i was in the right place at the right time. exotic colors filled my field of view, bright pinks and purples slithering across the giant film projecter that was set up on stage. i closed my eyes for a minute to take in the cev's, and just as i did they covered pink floyds breath. i was traveling towards an interstellar machine, with bright white stars flickering left and right. the stars appeared as ovals with saturn like rings and orbiting clouds. as i approached the machine i realized it was many of these stars, multi colored, and shining brighter than anything i've ever seen.
2:45- we walk back to mmw, but the damn techno arcade is too annoying to handle. we make our way back to our tent and K and i jam on acoustic guitars until we eventually pass out.
this experience was one i won't soon forget...im sure lots of people have interesting stories to tell about their time at Bonnaroo...
