Loperamide - Second Time - loperamide high achieved with large dosing

So SWIM has been using/taking opiates for about 10 years. In the last year SWIMs average daily consumption is about 100mg norco or oxy (either or), plus 120 mg morphine. So has a built up tolerance and if stop taking opiates goes into a terrible withdrawal.

SWIM lately saw a few articles and read A LOT of threads regarding use of loperamide (anti diarrhea meds OTC) for controlling WD and in higher dosing achieving pain control and high. Reason for the extremely high dosing is to have the lopeeramide cross the BBB as it is an opiod agonist.

The first try at it was taking 30 of the 2mg pills a week or two ago. This mildly seemed to help the sweats/chills and took the edge off of SWIMs WD but was nothing to write home about. The next attempt was around 70 of the 2 mg pills, where the same results were achieved.

Earlier this evening around 6pm SWIM was in terrible withdrawal and read the that taking a PPI like protonix or prilosec helps the loperamide cross over the BBB. So in a final attempt at pain relief and WD relief SWIM took 100 of the 2 mg loperamide and a 20mg pill of protonix (an Rx proton pump inhibitor). An hour later SWIM took 50 more 2mg loperamide and another 20mg protonix.

It took about an hour after the final consumption, but SWIM actually became completely WD free, and excellent pain relief with a rather intense and unexpected high. The last dosing was at no later than 7pm, and SWIM is still feeling the effects of a strong opiate type high to the point that they cannot sleep still at 4am.

This is not something SWIM would do on a regular basis, but in a pinch it definitely works.. (And anyone who thinks its a placebo affect SWIM promises it most definitely is not , as they are an experienced opiod user/addict and was in terrible WD earlier today)

You took 150 pills? Damn dude for a shitty Lope high and relief of wd? Repeatedly taking doses that high of Loperamide will kill you, I forgot exactly what it was called but it effects your heart and has killed people. Do some research about it. Taking Lope in reasonable doses (30mg or so) to help with withdrawals now and then but not the way you're taking it that's horrible. Look into getting on Suboxone or methadone.

Damn, that's a high dose. But ya, not the greatest thing for ya, remember on bluelight a year ago when people would argue you down it was just another opiate and perfectly fine to take daily at high doses, now everyone changed their tune. But don't worry, the heart thing is with people taking what you did on a daily basis, I use to this when it was dry and I couldn't get anything I would take 72 pills on a regular basis. BE WARNED: It will RAISE your tolerance. I had about the same tolerance you have(now on subs, so my tolly is ridiculous now) but lope seems to have a blocking effects on other opiates, and the raise in your tolerance. If I took 50 pills or so I COULD NOt feel 60mg Oxy IV the next day. I could feel it BUT it was severly dulled. Nut lope did raise my tolaerance

That's a quick route to killing yourself. The heart effects of Loperamide take quite a long time to set in -- it's only been seen in patients with chronic diarrhea, from what I've seen. The withdrawal relief should come at a much lower dose, even though you seem to be fairly opioid tolerant. Still, this drug is fairly sensitive. It's derived from fentanyl, which is effective at 75 micrograms. Other drugs similar to fentanyl are noted as being 5-15x as potent as heroine. What little gets across the blood brain barrier could be very hefty, especially if you increase the amount you use with P-Glycoprotein inhibitors.

I'd go a bit slower if I were you. That's a lot of the drug, so see what won't kill you but will get rid of the withdrawal. And be careful when you have recently used other opioids, as it could have its effects increased.

Loperamide is definitely useful "in a pinch" we all just need to be aware of the potential for overdose and adverse cardiac effects, not to mention a host of other weird side effects.
