So for those of you who have kicked a serious habit and experienced insomnia, what is the absolute longest you've stayed up because of withdrawl? I want to hear about everyone's worst cases of insomnia because of w/d.

I've only been addicted once, and it was to OC and then Heroin, 4 months on OC, 2 months on H, consecutive. I had to kick cold turkey, was not my choice, and I experienced the worst insomnia of my life. I stayed awake four days straight without one minute of sleep, and only got about an hour the night after :(! I had to lay in bed for five hours for it, it was stressful and annoying. I didn't sleep any decently for a couple months, even then it was inconsistent :/

So lets hear about the worst insomnia episode you've had in w/d?

probably only 48 hours or so........also on CT dope WD.....

maybe longer with a few other things.....thats just what comes to mind atm

I was withdrawing from these benzos and painkillers. I would have to say I stayed up for two days with maybe an hour of sleep following that and then I was up again. I still went to school that whole week. Let's just say I wanted to die.

Wow withdrawling from benzos AND painkillers at the same time? That's absolutely crazy, and sounds like hell on Earth. You know it's weird like if you aren't an addict and try to stay up, it's incredibly hard; but if you ARE an addict it all changes. For me atleast, I feel AWAKE and wired somewhat, but not in a good way. It's like I am a total zombie in the sense I can't think, have no energy etc, but I'm awake as hell. I always thought that was so weird, I figured during w/d I'd feel super tired but wouldn't sleep, but I actually feel AWAKE. Like being zombied out makes me know I need sleep, but I totally never felt like I could anyway. Sleeping for even 30 minutes had me wired instantly again too ;O

3 days maybe with 5 minutes of sleep each day it was weird that time I had no other withdrawl symptoms and this was from heroin I'd just read alll night if i could and in the morning I would walk to the river and watch the sunrise it was really comforting wish I wouldnt have relapsed was doing real good for about a week there :(

You know, i am one of the lucky few who CAN sleep during withdrawals. In fact, i sleep a lot, more than when I am not in W/D. Its as if the W/D take such a toll on my body that it just wears me out, totally and completely. I've slept for over 18 hours before in W/D, though I woke up kinda frequently drenched in sweat, feeling as if i am going through menopause hot/cold flashes.

HOWEVER, I have experienced the sleeplessness on a few occassions. The most I think I ever stayed awake during w/d (caused mostly by the aching of my legs and RLS) was probably 48 hours. Not that bad...

I have insomnia as well though, so thats really nothing in my experience...

I sleep a shit load coming of heroin, like above poster. It wears my entire body out, and i can wake up/go back to sleep repeatedly. Only to wipe the cold swear off my back, and sprint my fastest to the toilet everytime the poo flows out my ass like an unholy river of fire.

Well like say I use for three days and have just a minor w/d often times I will sleep the day away, but when I am in FULL BLOWN W/D I will not sleep a fucking minute :(

56 hours, meth, thought a man broke into my home... Also, kept hearing voices... no fun. Lesson? sedatives are your friends, also meth sucks

I've done 7 days in a row. Coming off almost a 2 year bender of high dose oxy and xanax. Treated with sub neurontin phenobarb and ambiem. Nothing could calm my head or legs down. Had insomnia issues prior to use but never anything like that. Felt like I was losing my mind and going crazy. Took a month before I could sleep more than four hours and that with 3-4 somas at night. Went through the same when I stopped subs...no sleep for another 5 days..

I have stayed up in w/ds from heroin with a maximum of about 3 nights of delirium, witnessing a horrible vision of hell (so its like a dreamlike state- im out of it, but not sleeping), with the room red and spinning as i sweat, shiver, puke, diarreah, moan and wail in agony like a crazy person getting. beat.

I have also had a w/d of sleeping for about 3-4 days. I was heavily addicted to crack (and taking xanax and alcohol and iv cocaine frequently to the point of almost daily, i was soo fucked up i cant remember) and suboxone and heroin. The main ones were crack and suboxone. Anyway, I got locked up in county jail and I pretty much slept for 3 days, got out the 4th or 5th day, I never showered in jail, I ate 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and I dont remember drinking much water. I dont remember sweating either, I felt like I passed out. Is what I am saying sound unbelievable or could there be a scientific basis for this.
