Hello Comrades,

I noticed that from the time it takes to push in the plunger to the onset of the drug's effects has extended from anywhere to 10-20 seconds, as opposed to the 5 seconds I used to experience. Should I be concerned? It's s weird experience; it usually takes long enough for me to think, "shit, I guess I missed", or "smaller dose than I thought" for me to feel and taste it.

background:

26 y/o
using IV off and on since 18
decent shape, exercise often

^I don't think it's really cause for concern, different heroin has different properties IME...I've had stuff that didn't have much of a rush, stuff that hit hard but not much high...could be attributable to different cuts and active components still left over from manufacturing, your physiology, a lot of things...

^^

This. Different batches of dope hit differently. Some have a strong rush that hit you quickly, others creep up slowly, others have a few seconds of nothing before it all hits at once, etc. It's normal. Also, tolerance changes and what not can have an effect.

Interesting that different batches hit you at different rates.

HOWVER,

i first noticed this effect with amphetamines. On top of that, I first noticed this effect with amphetamines after being clean for half a year. I understand that amphetamine tolerance is long term, but it still drops considerably. Also, I want to clear up that the drugs effects of my IV has changed from the usual 5 seconds to more like 10+

I was thinking more on the side of really slow circulation.

Have you changed the vein you are shooting into? I know that for me, certain veins hit quicker than others

Particularly using feet/legs as opposed to arm/hands, it takes at least 5 more secs there for me on average. But I have noticed slight differences among veins even just in the upper extremities...

^Yeah, I've noticed that too....shooting in my calf veins gives me a slower onset and a different sensation.....

This is like morphine vs. heroin, so "different batches are different" is most probably the answer. I don't think most people who produce large quantity of a drug to sell it on the black market are really bugged by the obsession a chemist has in terms of purity. And as a matter of fact it's very easy to do the manufacturing wrong, having little heroin produced with the rest staying morphine and other alkaloids if the extraction from poppies was also done wrong.
