Hi to all Bluelighters , I'm New but I've been checkin out this forum for some time now...Great topics most of time..
I'm now in my late 20's . and had my first pill in 1989..Of course it wasn't to be my last!!. Anyhow I really got into the early Sydney rave scene poppn alot pills and speed , I would say around 300 pills over a 3 year period ... I held down a job in IT and played sport , I basically lived a normal life..But I did had some was physical side effects .Mainly my teeth started to fall out, also my fillings would just drop out too..This even occured during parties. I would be just standn there and pop a part of my tooth has just landed in my beer...Not a good look at all. However did have'em fixed costing a shit load too ..
Does anyone else have a similar tale of teeth fallin out... Does E/speed cause this and how ?

I find that my prosthetic leg just drops off, especially on the podium AND you would have no idea how difficult it is chasing a glass eye around a smokey dancefloor.....

Er...yer. I have had a few pills in my time, and my teeth are kind of hammered. But since the only teeth to do this are the ones that had fillings, I assumed that it was bacteria from underneath the fillings combined with a bit of jaw clenching and tooth grinding. But apparantly, and I don't know where I read this, pills are very bad for your teeth.
I have to get mine fixed up. I have four really bad teeth. Two of them have nearly nothing left and the nerves are just hanging out. But funny thing is...it doesn't hurt unless some food pokes one of the nerves fairly hard...strange.

It is also very damaging to your teeth if you chew your pills, so swallowing is probably a better option in regards to the welfare of your teeth. Prolonged jaw clenching and teeth grinding will also cause premature damage aswell, so to prevent this it always a good idea to have something seperating your top teeth from your bottom.

read some reference as to amphetamine metabolism affecting avail. calcium, i.e. loss of tooth strength, etc., yet the ref was for smoked route of administration (ice)- could be same mech. of action via oral route?

Ooooo....now that's rather scary. Anyone thought of anything regarding depletion of calcium and a link with osteoparosis? I know that the calcium depletion is, in reality, from the muscles, but does this depletion of calcium lead to a calcium depletion from the bones as well? Because if this effects teeth, why shouldn't it effect bones? Just a scary thought...

although clenching & grinding can be a big problem, i don't think its your problem because it would wear your teeth down not make them fall out. i think its more likely to be nutritional, like (i think) frqntflyr is saying.
maybe the drugs can lead to calcium deficiency which would cause the problems you've had with your teeth as well as osteoporosis eventually - so drink your milk! they may also lead to other deficiencies which would cause gum disease. do your gums bleed when you brush your teeth? maybe you could do with more fruit & vegies as well.
ok, class dismissed. seriously though, maybe ask this in the medical section. you don't want to gain the new nickname of 'gummy'.

to the crazy person, the normal one is insane

do you gum your speed?
i've read that this can do major damage to gums, therefore weakening the roots that hold you teeth in. might be more gum related than tooth.
mayb you should take it easy, i know i value my teeth.

I have some problems with my teeth. I have about 3 or 4 teeth at the moment which I think might need fillings. I got two fillings about a month ago, so I can totally believe that pills can damage your teeth, I think it would mainly be from the grinding.
This may sound stupid but I do care about my teeth and am seriously thinking about getting some kind of mouth guard to protect them, it may look stupid, but hey, I want to keep my chompers into old age.
