Long car ride = erection problems?

I just went on a very unpleasantly long drive today to visit my SO.

To both of our disappointment, I wasn't able to get it up for her. Granted, the conditions we were forced to attempt the act in were... far from ideal... but still...

I remember hearing that long drive can have that effect (because of cutting off the circulation or whatever), but I can't find a source for it... has anyone else heard this?
 
I don't know, but I remember being a kid and finding that I very much enjoyed the ride whenever the school bus would hop onto a real bumpy dirt road. I'd have to walk into school with my books in front of my crotch...

But long car rides and not being able to get it up? I don't know...

Is this a relatively new relationship or someone you've been seeing for some time now? It sounds to me like, whatever the case may be, you don't see your SO all too often being that she lives or works a bit too far away? Is that the case?

I'd imagine that you might have felt a bit anxious or perhaps uncomfortable and so that's the reason you couldn't get it up; even if you don't remember feeling too anxious or uncomfortable, well, sometimes your body can be put under stress without your really knowing it.

New-ish relationship, we started shortly before she went away for the summer. She'll be back in the fall, but until then, seeing her is a 2-3 hr drive through the middle of nowhere.

It may be that. Conditions were hardly ideal, and there had been a 2.5 hr drive in hot weather, plus a long time in slight physical discomfort due to the heat.

Yeah I'd imagine that's what it was, then. Again, I'm not a doctor, but I've been around the block more than once and I know that I've definitely experienced something similar before.
 
Let's face it driving a long distance is very fatiguing. You need to time to recover.
Also the position you sit in while driving may reduce the flow of blood to your genitals.
Don't worry about it, but give yourself a chance to recover next time.
