We got the news that one of our discord staff, @lilrascal passed away last week. This is what their friends on discord have had to say about it:

"Unfortunately, over the weekend Scout died. The cause of death was likely due to an overdose. Scout was an integral part of my own and many others' communities.
Scout was always trying to help me learn and grow as a person. They also challenged me to step up for those around me whenever I was able to. Scout cared about so many people and was so forward with their care. I recently moved into a new house and Scout traveled for hours to help me and my roommates get settled. They also went grocery shopping for us as well as aiding us in getting furniture. I remember in those moments feeling so loved and cared for and so grateful for them. I remember feeling so happy that someone from my community was able to help me when I needed it most. I also remember hoping that I would someday be able to help others the way that scout helped me when I was in need.
Scout helped me get started doing harm reduction work and helped me find resources when I needed them. They also really pushed me to do the best i could for my community. I feel so sad and disappointed that a harm reduction worker died of an overdose, because all of the tools were there to save them. When I feel disappointed in these moments I also feel riddled by guilt, because I struggle to really tell who or what I'm disappointed with.
Over the past few years I have been to a lot of vigils for trans people I didn't know. I have been to vigils where the individual's family refused to be there because they refused to recognize their child's identity. I have been to vigils where the individual's death was incorrectly labeled a suicide, when it was very obviously a murder. It hurts to see another trans person die at such a young age. I am much older now than I ever thought that I would be and that is because people like Scout who have helped me move through difficult times, protected me when I needed it, and they were always there for me when I needed them.

I’m very low on energy and going through my own grieving, but I want to say that Scout was an outstanding mentor for me getting started being a support team member in this community.
They saw so much potential in me and kept trying to connect me to wonderful job opportunities while continuing to coach me and help me find opportunities for growth in Bluelight. I was so excited to talk to them some more after I had recovered from Covid, and found out the day that I was finally feeling better that they had passed and that was devastating.
Scout was an amazing human being who genuinely cared and whose memory will persist for a long time. They have impacted so many lives for the better through both their work here and in real life. We both bonded over a history of being medics and helping others.
I hope that I can continue to keep myself well as well as help others to stay well in addition in their honor.
Rest easy Scout. You will not be forgotten and your impact will persist and be carried on by those you aided.
