Ever since i started shooting up,ive always used lemon juice instead of saline or water.
This is the way everyone i know has always done it,and is the way i was taught to do it.
My question is,is this just an English thing or do you guys ever do it?
(btw,i do realise that water would be sufficient to dissolve the gear).

NO! Do NOT USE LEMON JUICE! This can lead to NASTY bacterial problems ... try to get away with using JUST water/saline and heat, if that fails, generic vinegar is *slightly* better... but ya gotta stay away from the citrus stuff..

when I was living in the uk I would use citric acid or ascorbic acid (powder vit c) , there's no way you can melt brown sugar without. I was using lemon until I got a really nasty headache from it. They sell little vials of water for injections at the chemists for about 20p (the water at my house in brixton was of a lite brown color....no good!)

I am going to use water from now on (distilled ),but i guarantee its going to seem strange after years of using lemon juice.

In NZ we cook up morphine sulphate(a long & complicated process but well worth it). toward the end of the process we use sterile water & either WHITE (not malt or balsamic) or citric acid(just a tiny pinch).Lemon juice is BAD BAD BAD.

Correct, as I mentioned, vinegar should be used before any type of citric acid... of course, heat alone SHOULD do the trick if you work it, while the acid helps, I have yet to come across any dope I *HAD* to have it for (both tar and powder)..
