In case you have not heard of this group, you should have, and now you have!

They are a group of former and current cops, judges, police chiefs, dea agents, etc who have seen that the war on drugs is a complete waste and a scam and are speaking out publically about it.

Their website is www.leap.cc

There is a pretty great 12 minute video on their front page of the site (free) about 1/2 way down on the right side. It might take a little while to load or else the vocals will lag behind the peoples actions but this video is a MUST SEE.

Spread the word. There are ex narcs who are out there tellling the public that the war on drugs is evil and wasteful and harmful and useless. They speaks from their own personal experience so their message is quite powerful IMO (it's a lot more powerful than some hippie saying 'the war on drugs is bad') hearing someone who was and undercover narc for 20 years go into details about why the drug war is terrible will get the agverage citizens attention much more I think than drug users lol

Go check out hte video.

Yeah, thanks. LEAP has been around for a long time - a real long time. So far as I know it is legit, real (ex)cops who don't have faith the current system is doing what it is supposed to. From my knowledge, it is primarily a US thing, though I'm sure there are other related orgs in other countries.

Hrmmm...send this to NADD or DC....We'll give NADD first crack at it and the mods can move if needed.

HOMELESS to NADD

Hasn't gotten much response here. I'm shooting it over to DC. Mods, you can shoot it back if you don't want it. :)

We in Dug Culture welcome quality posts such as this. Thank you very much guyz!

I have heard of it yes. I'm kind of curious how seriously their co-workers take them. Do they still up hold the law in thier jobs?

I bet that most LEO realize the futility of what they do, but they clearly have no incentive to debase their own work publicly while they are still being paid for their ultimately useless efforts.

I have been wanting to see them speak for awhile but never heard of a chapter in Alabama

You can look up their speaking engagements on their sites. One of the cofounders lives near me and I have acutally exchanged emails with him. They do talks to civics groups a lot, the idea is that if they get the message across to the voting public they can make a difference (appearing at NORML would be like preaching to the converted.

Tool around thier site, they speak all over the globe. The problems is they are still very new and just growing and being a current cop you can't realistically join them because of the heavy political pressure and stigma from your police superiors.

So they get ex cops, ex sherrifs, and they do get current judges, etc.

I think they are great becaue they willl be a lot more convincing than some pot head or some liberal college professor teachng why drugs should be legal. These are the guys that were and are in the trenches speaking out against the insanity of the drug war.

I hope people pass the word on about this group. When they get their numbers from the hundreds to the thousands it will be much better. I think they have a much better chance of getting the average middle aged conservative to rethink thieir views on drugs beling illegal than just about anyone else does.

I see their advertisements all the time with my National Review and Limbaugh Letter :)

LEAP is considerably Conservative/Libertarian/Republican (same thing really). There's a big underground in the Republican Movement to legalize but it's not getting alot of press. I think it's probably because, quite frankly, some issues are more important, and a big leap from status quo which usually doesn't sit well in elections. Many pundits, from Rush Limbaugh to Larry Elder, voice support for drug legalization.

I know alot of you folks are Liberals/Democrats so you may want to reconsider your support for them. Of course, I'm a diehard Conservative Republican so I've sent my support to LEAP in the mail a long time ago.

I think, after seven years of the Bush administration, anyone who still self-identifies as a conservative Republican is a die-hard by definition.

Shit whichever party is for legalization I will support be it Republican Democrat Nazi Communist Bull Moose

as someone who lives the seattle area, it brings a smile to my face to know that at least some people in power have an HONEST approach to prohibition, is there an end in sight??

So, has Rush decided that drug users aren't the scum of the earth now that he's been busted?

No offense to your own beliefs, I think we are essentially on the same page. If you want to support LEAP, check out t his thread:
